Had the kid already signed the paperwork? Kind of a bush league move to honor the ship and then yank it three weeks later and right before the semester starts.UMass1991 wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:36 amCoach Joe pulled his scholarship after honoring it when hiredminutefanjsf wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:53 pmhttps://x.com/snoozie223/status/1876720 ... Well, that didn't last long. It seems like Bell did a lot of the recruiting work on DBs. I wonder how many we'll lose?
No it is not the norm for scholarships to yanked, especially when all the paper work is submitted and the player hasn’t stepped foot on campus, yet. Coaches don’t even really like to pull scholarships from guys that have already played under one. They will help convince a player to move on, but rarely do they pull a scholarship.Quann wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 9:03 am That's big boy football. Deal with it. Not that big of a deal.

Great hire for UMass! Jordan Hogan is going to be a great addition to the team for a new Wide Receiver Coach.

UMass is hiring San Francisco 49ers offensive assistant Jordan Hogan as its new wide receivers coach, a source tells @CBSSports/@247Sports.
Hogan was with the 49ers the last two years and worked with receivers like Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.
Nothing public aside from Dad’s rant. And, there are legitimate reasons that do allow for a scholarship to be pulled while it is in force-disciplinary and academic reasons. The school can’t comment on either of those. Just hoping that the school did it “right”. It sucks that the only word out there is one sided.
https://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-footba ... e-54383828 Fwiw. He was scheduled to enroll in January. Yes. New coaches can revoke scholarship offers. The dad seems to be saying that the scholarship was going to be honored when coach H was hired and then three weeks later changed his mind after paper work was signed with the new coaching staff. If dad’s take is accurate then yes it is “bush league”.dennisdent wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:55 pm ^I agree, comments what Coach Joe did is "bush league," when he is following the rules are incorrect. Also, DH wasn't coming to UMass until next fall, not three weeks before the semester.
That article was from almost a YEAR ago. That was his family's plan and the former coaching staff for him at UMass and things changed. He didn't even sign until December 4 and that was by Alex Miller (no longer on staff) during the early signing period. Coach Joe came on after December 6 which meant he could pick his own players, and he owed DH nothing. DH got CUT by the new staff--nothing bush league about it. Coach Joe hasn't even held one practice and you're giving him shit for following the rules.minutefanjsf wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 8:02 pmhttps://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-footba ... e-54383828 Fwiw.
