We will have plenty of depth on the perimeter so McCall can press and/or play four guards all he wants. I'm hoping we have some upgrades in talent at the position as well, but I really don't have any info on that. I'm more worried about the bigs. It could turn out to be a s**t show equal to this year:
-Holloway may not be eligible, may not want to come back, or McCall may not want him back. (As much as I like Holloway, I'm not sure I would want to use a roster spot on someone who might not be eligible come mid-season.)
-Baldwin may not want to come back, MCall might not want him back.
-Hines could want to spend his final year of college hoop somewhere closer to home.
-Diallo may not fully recovered from his ACL.

Thank you for sharing.. Was very interesting that McCall almost immediately mentions Laurent playing the 4 - I think he is almost locked into the starting "4" spot at this point. After hearing his thoughts on all 4 sit out guys (great question road dog) I amend my original statement to thinking Hayward has the most to improve on to earn minutes. There's no denying the shot but the coaches want more out of him defensively. I think McCall said something along the lines of 'there's more to basketball than sitting in the corner and making threes' - something like that. He waxed poetic about Laurent and Clergeot (pronounced CLER-GIT??????) so I think those guys are in line for serious minutes as early as game 1 next year.

That's also what I took from his statements. Laurent and Clergeot seem likely to get a lot of minutes from day 1. He also seemed high on Cobb, who has become stronger and has 2 years D1 experience. Hayward seems to be at the lower end of the 4. Kind of surprised (pleasantly) that Laurent is a good outside shooter. I thought he was more of a banger. It will be nice if he can do both.

How the heck did you track this down? I can never find any info about the insider show on the athletics website. It would be nice if the had a search icon.

It'd be nice if they would put it on iTunes Podcasts, SoundCloud, etc.

Here's a link to the general page for this. Paste it to your taskbar. It's a little convoluted, but go to the Athletics eb Site, Fan Central, UMass Sports Insider, listen, then "on demand". Maybe it's highly convoluted. Usually they do a tweet about the show on Tuesdays with a direct link. You just have to be luck to spot it.

Edit: Niles' way is easier. :)

I listened to that segment a few times, McCall mentioned Laurent playing either on the wing or PF. That being said, all along I've assumed he'd be the starting 4 next year. My guess, at this juncture, is that Pipkins, Clergeot, Pierre, and Laurent start, with either Hines or Holloway (or a player TBD if both of them are gone) at the 5. I've heard from more than one person that Pipkins and Clergeot are not true PGs, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out and if Tre Wood, or someone else not currently on the team, is the starting PG next year and presumably displaces Clergeot from the starting lineup.

Maybe it's time to bring this thread back to the top. Congrats to the guys for what they accomplished. The team was fun to watch and they did more with less than I was expecting.

The big question for next year is "will anyone leave"? If the answer is no, then we know our full 13 man roster. So the only speculation is who starts, who are the first players off the bench and how many minutes do people get.

With the amount of recruiting being done (and offers made) for 2018, I have to believe that MM suspects (or knows) that 1 or more players are leaving.
The one thing I am sure of is that with a full roster we will run and press for 40 minutes. Can't wait for next year.

Based on all of the recent offers I’d be shocked if no one leaves. Hell with the offers out there more likely multiple people leave.

How many of us would trade 2 years of Wyatt Walker (sight unseen) for 1 year of Rashaan Holloway? That's a really interesting question in my book.

^ Would we be getting the same Holloway that we had this year? Not even a question for me if he still isn't going to be in basketball shape and be academically ineligible again.

I’ll donate $1000 to the Court Club if there are no changes to the roster

I saw yesterday that Nick Timberlake has an offer...that one shocked me
