I can’t believe Zoomass is still talking about the end of this game but let’s continue the madness over here. Do we have any coaches on this board? Let’s look at the last 59 seconds and really break down what coach should have done and what Umass did to lose.
Umass gets the interception with 59 seconds at their own 20. Score is 21-20. Buffalo has all 3 timeouts left. Umass team and bench celebrate like they won the Super Bowl and the defensive player doing snow angels on the field gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Umass now has 1st and 10 from their own 10.
If Umass actually started at the 20 and ran 3 basic running plays and Buffalo uses all 3 timeouts. Worse case scenario would be Umass punting from around their own 25 with about 45 seconds left. An average punt would have Buffalo starting around their own 30-35 yard line with about 40 seconds left and no timeouts.
Here’s what Umass play-by-play looked like:
1/10 Weird qb delayed draw looking to kill time for 1 yard loss
2/11 Rb draw where he injures leg and falls right down for 4 yard loss
3/15 awful pass down sideline that had no chance
4/15 45 yard punt
Buffalo gets ball at 50 with 1 timeout with 41 seconds left.
Or they could have done the Zoomass game plan, run the ball 4 times from their own 10. Buffalo uses all of their timeouts after the first 3 runs. Clock stops after the 4th run and Umass hands the ball to Buffalo at their own 15 yard line and in field goal range to win.

^^^Maybe zoo thought we could run around for 50 seconds on 4th down to kill the clock and end the game?
