According to Mike in a previous thread, we win the tiebreaker with Ball State because we split with them and we beat Toledo( the highest seed who one of us beat) while Ball State lost to them.

SCOUTING UMASS
UMass is currently 15-15 overall and 6-11 in MAC play. UMass is coming off an 81-62 home win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday.
LAST TIME AGAINST UMASS
Ohio and UMass met on Jan. 6, 2026 in Athens, with Ohio winnings, 86-83.
Winnings???

Here's the whole preview if anyone is interested:

I think most of the time it's a human who's updating that content, and I've seen similar errors.

There's one front and center in UM's game notes PDF for tomorrow:
Leonardo Bettiol scored 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting at Bowling Green. He finished the regular season with 56 points, shooting 20-of-24 from
the floor against the Falcons.
Huh?
The regular season isn't finished, unless you're telling me Leo isn't going to play tomorrow.
Would have been better worded as "In this season's two games against the Falcons, he scored a combined 56 points, shooting a combined 20-25 from the floor." (The UM note got the numbers wrong as well as the wording.)

There's a new SID in the chair at UM. So far he's producing similar quality as the last guy, with lots of little errors. And unfortunately it's the broadcasters and reporters that are supposed to rely on those game notes. Now a guy like Jay Burnham has to do more work validating the accuracy of the notes, or risk looking foolish.

I'm hyper-critical on stuff like that, but that comes from my earlier career stint at a publishing company. Do your job and get it right.

Our Alumni Association is hosting a pregame event at The Hangar starting at 4:30pm. As you could predict, it's going to be a small gathering. I've met a couple of you in the past...if anyone is interested in connecting to talk MAC and MBB woes (we're having our own), then it would be great to catch up. Just ask for D.A.

Enjoy it! There's someone near me in Milford with a Ohio lawn flag by his mailbox... no idea who s/he is, but maybe they will be there too!

Unfortunately when you pay $3.35/hr for these roles, some quality is missing.

Just saw the first news from Vegas. A couple of places have us as 2.5 favorites and a couple have us at 3. Any news on DHS? Ohio doesn't have a lot of size and a healthy, motivated DHS would help.

Nope. Dan has been at UMass since 2022, and like Jay and most of the boots on the ground staff inside athletics, he works his tail off and is a consummate professional.

These people grind every day for the program. The staff inside the department take pride in what they do.

The new guy you are referring to doesn't even have a bio up on the Staff Directory site yet. It's just his name and contact info.

There is almost zero chance they win. The season likely ends tomorrow. You could see this a mile away after the Coastal Carolina choke. At this point, hanging on to Martin in hoops and pretending we are an FBS program in football are just cruel jokes.

I'm gonna hate to see the season end tonite. There's really no guy on this team I dont like, and there's a few I really like watching like K'Jei, Banks, & Leo. The team has the talent to be in the league tourney, its just perplexing & too bad that things never came together.

When a team "doesn't come together" that is the fault of the coaching staff, full stop.

Hoping for a win to end the season on a positive note. Ive enjoyed the board and comments all year. As a fan w/ blind pride I hope we can get back to competing for conference championships. Fun to team to watch when they were playing well offensively. Go Umass!!!!!
