He's racking up almost as many awards this week as Sool.

Danny will be a very good backup to Curry (hoping Curry stays). I've watched a couple of his games as they are all available. He can do a lot of the things that Curry does, but he is not a shooter. Most of his points come from drives to the hoop so don't expect a lot of points from him. But he can break the press, find the open man and defend. Those are all good things.

What are your thoughts about Danny starting at PG and Curry starting at SG next year if he stays?

^ Today's results in the tournament. It looks like we may have our future point guard. I sure hope we can keep Jaylen for at least 1 more year to give Danny time to adjust to D1 BB.

4⭐️ ‘26 Adonis Ratliff (📷) showed his versatility + touch as 4⭐️ ‘26 Jasiah Jervis added perimeter scoring. ‘25 Danny Carbuccia (UMass) ran the show with a triple-double + ‘27 Josh Rivera added shooting.

UMass bound '25 Danny Carbuccia is a defender most don't want to take 2-3 dribbles on.

I know money talks. I was very close to the bench Saturday. I was very impressed with Jaylen’s composure and “vibe” even when he cramped up. My gut tells me he likes it here and will stay unless the money is just too much to turn down.

I'm hoping that with the new NIL system (and I admit I don't fully understand it) we will have enough to make competitive offers to the guys we prioritize. Other than Sool, if he gets another year, Curry and DHS, I'm not sure anyone else is "critical". Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, I'm not sure.

I think for continuity and growth, Jayden, Worthy, and Nate need to be kept. Losing key contributors is tough.

I'm not ready to give up on Shahid, Luka, and Doumbia either. All have potential, are young, and I'd love to see them develop.

^ Or Akil and Tarique. Athletic sophomores with good length. I'd like to see what they can turn into. Remember Dyondre Dominguez barely played his first two years under McCall. When he did, he was either out of control or out of position, and then he blossomed his junior year into a key contributor. Either of those two guys could make that jump.

Let's not let the recency bias and success from the most recent game cloud our judgment here. This is still a team well under .500, Curry's defense and offensive efficiency are sorely lacking, no one on this roster is critical to keep. If there's anyone I would like to keep, it's Jayden, and part of the reason is because I doubt it would take a lot of NIL $ to keep him here but he makes the team better. The best values in this new landscape of paying players will probably be guys who impact winning without racking up a lot of stats. I'm thinking of GMU, none of the guys on that team commanded big money in the transfer portal, but together they make a great team.

DHS is a very critical piece of this team. Improving year to year, excellent rebounder, is capable of scoring in double figures every game, and defensively is very good. And by all accounts a great kid. I'd hate to see him leave
