While you're waiting for tomorrow's game or for your ride out to Amherst, the latest Being Frank podcast: https://art19.com/shows/plant-the-flag
Re: Game 27, 2023-24: St. Bonaventure (2/24)
The biggest question in this game will be can UMass score in the paint. A major factor in the loss out at Bona was Chad Venning’s dominance of the inside and especially of Cohen.
Re: Game 27, 2023-24: St. Bonaventure (2/24)
I think if they move and cut like they did vs VCU they can negate Vennings size with quickness. I'm confident Frank & Co can work out a good plan for this game . Schmidt is a good coach so this will be a tough game

saw that too - I don't necessarily think this means Cross is gone after this year. I think he's being honored tomorrow just to make sure he gets his day here at UMass. As Frank said a couple days ago - Cross and Cohen both love it here but if someone offers him $500K would you blame him if he left?LS71 wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 4:08 pm Just saw a post on Instagram about Saturday’s game.

It’s both Legends Day and Senior Day. The post feature pics of Matt Cross and Ryan Marcus.
Levesque was honored at last years Senior night and decided to come back - then later bolted - so I think its just to make sure he gets that standing ovation he deserves - if he comes back - we'll give him another one next year!!
Also - Josh is a senior so why isn't he being honored? I know its pretty well known that he will be back, but again, what if someone offers him a bag of cash after the season is over - would be ashamed he didn't get some recognition
Re: Game 27, 2023-24: St. Bonaventure (2/24)
^ I said something similar a day or two ago. Frank needs to devise a strategy to get Josh some good looks. This game is so important for seeding. A win gives us a 2 game lead on SBU. We ought to be able to win at least 2 of the next 3 to put us at 11-7 so they wouldn't be able to catch us.
SJU is the one that could give us trouble in seeding since they have the head-to-head tiebreaker and are only one game behind us. But they play at VCU and at Richmond and if they lose both we are good.
GMU is 7-6, only 1/2 game behind us but we have the head-to-head over them. They play @ Loyola and home to Richmond so even they get hot and win 4 out of 5 we end up in a 2 way tie and win the tie-breaker.
Again, this is all predicated on us beating SBU on Saturday. As the saying goes, "the most important game is the next one". In this case, it's absolutely true.

I think Josh is a grad student.MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:40 pmsaw that too - I don't necessarily think this means Cross is gone after this year. Yeah it's weird. Josh did graduate from SFU last year, but on UM's roster he's listed as a senior, maybe because his frosh year was a redshirt, so that's a do-over if he wants it.
I don't know what the hell the criteria is anymore for Senior Day.

how could he be a grad student yet still be able to play next year?minutefanjsf wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:11 pmI think Josh is a grad student.MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:40 pmsaw that too - I don't necessarily think this means Cross is gone after this year. I don't get it but I do know with 100% certainty - everyone on this roster is eligible to come back next year. Finish strong and the key guys will hopefully see what is building here and they will stick around next year

I think he graduated from St Francis last year. He was a red shirt junior in 2023. He started college in 19-20, so he has a Covid year remaining.MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:37 pmhow could he be a grad student yet still be able to play next year?minutefanjsf wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:11 pmI think Josh is a grad student.MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:40 pm

As to the senior night. The news that Cross is being honored is not good news to those hoping he comes back. Senior night players don’t come back. We know Frank has 3 recruits coming in so Frank clearly already knows he will have the spots. Speculating on who you hope leaves to make room for the recruits is wishful thinking. We did the same thing last year and nobody was planning on Dominguez and Luis leaving.
