Statistically speaking UMass should win this game. Towson has lost to everyone and beaten no one so to speak. The only team they played that is comparable is South Dakota State who they lost to by 13 and only scored 48 in the process. Every other game was either over their weight class or a cupcake.
That said, we have no clue how this team will handle a road game.
Based on what I have seen so far, I think they can win this game as long as they are not stubborn with the three if they are cold. In both USF (16%) and Harvard (22%) games they did not shoot well from there but kept hoisting up shots anyways. USF was terrible from the three as well which is how Umass won that game. Almost 50% of their field goal attempts were 3 pointers.... get the ball in the paint (driving or passing)
I have coached a lot of basketball in my life - when something is not working, you need to mix it up - thus far they have not done that (not enough at least IMO).

^ UMass is down near the bottom of the conference for 3pt attempt rate, with only SLU and URI attempting a lower % of their shots from 3.

I've been pretty happy with shot selection and their willingness to go to the rim. It seems like they go through stretches where they hoist up a bunch of threes, but there are a lot of young players on this squad so I understand some of that, and Frank seems to straighten them out pretty quick.

Cross and Cohen are becoming the offensive identity averaging a combined 35 and 17 with 16 fta. Kind of crazy seeing Cross become more of a post player after seeing him mostly shoot 3’s in ACC.Juice Stand wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 11:42 am ^ UMass is down near the bottom of the conference for 3pt attempt rate, with only SLU and URI attempting a lower % of their shots from 3.

It's probably going to be an ugly, rock-fight game. Besides their slow tempo, the rebound very well. We can't afford to have Matt pick up 2 quick fouls and have to sit out, especially of Daniel still isn't feeling well.
I think they are better than we're giving them credit for. If we played their schedule (8 games) we might be 4-4. Colorado, Wake, North Texas and Houston is a tough slate.

DHS = Department of Homeland Security?
Save your breath... you'll need it to blow up your date

^^^ Glad to hear it.
Re: Game 6, 2023-24: at Towson (12/6)
Umass is a 3 point favorite. I am not thrilled with that number, but the over under is 132.5 .... I am betting the under all day on that (and i will be!)

Maybe he takes charges like Luke Bonner and he can lead the department of homecourt security!
