2026 Recruiting
Re: 2026 Recruiting
^ That's why I think he's the one. Some schools that offered like West Virginia lost interest when he was out most of last year.
Re: 2026 Recruiting
Hailey has signed as has Frank's son, so it's just Sylla unless there's a fifth. Helgason signed a couple of weeks ago.

Re: 2026 Recruiting
Seems like signing 5 freshman would be a rarity these days seeing that kids all bounce around

Re: 2026 Recruiting
Definitely a rarity in this day and age, but if you can find a few contributors in that group, then there's good value in it. You're probably paying less NIL for a freshman than an established D1 transfer, and while they may not be 100% ready on day one, some should start to be reliable contributors by the end of the season.
On this year's roster, we have 3 freshman, Carbuccia, Wimbley and Osman. Carbuccia is the first man off the bench, so he's already shown that he's going to contribute, and while Wimbley has had a slow start, he showed flashes in the last game against CCSU. Osman is obviously a project and will be at the end of the bench. Hopefully we see 2 or 3 in next year's class with the same kind of impact.

Cam Hailey is transferring from Worcester Academy to a prep school in Ohio. So he should be "MAClameted" by next year. Sorry!

NCAA pitches shorter transfer windows for men's, women's hoops

This should make life a bit easier for coaches. Now, if they would only reinstate the "sit-out for a year rule" to cut own at least some of the transferring. The Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Oversight Committees have proposed that the notification-of-transfer windows open for 15 days following the conclusion of the men's and women's NCAA tournaments, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
The Division I Cabinet will review the proposal in January; if approved, it would go into effect in April. The men's basketball notification-of-transfer window would be open April 7-21, while the women's window would be open April 6-20.

Still no word on Sylla signing his LOI. But he reposted this tweet from the National Prep Showcase, so he still seems committed. I like his game so I hope he gets here next year.

UMass fans will appreciate the physicality of Cheick Sylla (@Cheicknasyllaa).
The 6-10 lefty gets over that right shoulder and uses touch to finish around the basket. Finds the contact, initiates the contact, wants the contact at

^Decommitted from Iowa State and currently has a ton of interest from Arizona State and he says this, "“He makes you work for everything, and that’s how I want it to be. I’m an energy guy. I love being that energy guy. It doesn’t matter if its a 4AM practice or a big game. UMass would allow me to be a dog. I think they like how I play 94 feet and constantly guard up.”
Yeah.... bring him on board, for sure.

Re: 2026 Recruiting
Here's the latest episode of "Just Being Frank". Just at the end, around the 29:00 mark he says we signed 5 recruits. We know about his son, Hailey, Helgason and probably Sylla (although no release was ever put out about his signing). No idea who the 5th signee is. BB obviously doesn't do the publicity angle the way football does.

Re: 2026 Recruiting
I've seen UM's tweets about Helgason, Christian Martin, and Cam Hailey. I guess there's a technicality holding up Sylla's signing, and whoever this mystery 5th is.69MG wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 12:38 pm he says we signed 5 recruits.
