This is not a loss, I’m glad he’s moved on. He’s too raw and not ready for the college game. Maybe with a different coach and some improvement he could develop into a decent player, but he seems quite far from that now. That’s not to say he has crazy athleticism, he just can’t harness that right now.

After I saw DD was leaving, I had a feeling Gapare would follow. Seemed like they were close on the team. Wouldn't be surprised to see them go somewhere together
Great athleticism, but seemed to struggle with what Frank wanted. Too bad, could have been good here

Goodbye Tafara Gapare. You'll always be remembered as the 2020's Jameel Pugh minus the midnight madness slam dunk championships

Sucks! Had the most upside on the roster.

RJ is the guy you can build around, not Gapare

Not sure why it needs to be just 1 guy to build around, but ok?

It doesn't, but out of the 2, if one was to stay, I'm glad it looks like it'll be RJ. I think he's more polished

Ricky tweeted something interesting yesterday.

Not sure who it was directed at.
TG was not ready and was the only player who didn’t seem to develop this season. Raw skill, sure. Hope he finds what he is looking for. Hopefully, Ricky’s tweet was not directed at TG. That type of reputation would not serve him well, IMO.

So much for “Frank’s guys” not leaving. I can’t do this anymore. They have removed all the fun in following a college program.
This is the norm in college hoops now. Expect at least 3 guys in the portal every year. It’s terrible for the game but that’s where we’re at now.

I think once the extra Covid year goes away in two years the portal will relax a bit. There are so many grad transfers with 2 years of eligibility now it is insane. Once it gets back to the one year (mostly) grad transfers it should even out a bit. All the “free” first time transfers and grad transfers add up to a lot right now.

The reason that we got him is likely that we didn't redshirt him, that and NLI.
Surprised that foreign players can sign NIL deals without it jeopardizing their “Student Visa”. I know some schools have had their foreign players sign everything at home, but TG wasn’t home since the season started. He did arrive late and didn’t have a NIL deal when he arrived that I am aware of.

He signed on 12/22/2022 when he was home for Christmas in NZ and all work was preformed in NZ.

^ Thanks! I just never imagined someone who has barely been in Amherst for 1/2 semester would have gone all the way to New Zealand in December
