Re: 2026-27 Season
I've said before that I think the MAC will be down this year compared to last. Groce left Akron and Miami won't repeat their miracle season. Add in that our staff and returning players should have familiarity with the league, and I think we'll be better prepared.

The team posted that this is the final week of summer practice. Hopefully we get a Just Being Frank podcast for a deep dive on the summer session.

Not sure I know what this means but at least it seems genuine: I don’t know if this is going to be the best team I’ve had, but this is the most complete team to my personality

Here you go, 69. A lot of info on new guys and returners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjuEvWmBpuo69MG wrote: Wed Aug 05, 2026 10:57 am I was hoping for info on more than just a couple of players but so far we have heard nothing, so I'll take what I can get. I hope they do additional stories - keep 'em coming.

Seems like you're underestimating these young men. Nobody's a kid who's gonna wilt and it looks like a pretty solid team. Expect improvement and success.eldonabe wrote: Thu Aug 06, 2026 8:17 amSo a bunch of kids who will wilt when he rants like a lunatic and recite yes-sir / no-sir????UMassFan99 wrote: Thu Aug 06, 2026 6:20 am Not sure I know what this means but at least it seems genuine: I don’t know if this is going to be the best team I’ve had, but this is the most complete team to my personality

I enjoyed this. 3 exhibition games in October against D1 teams, with refs, open to the public. That's a plus. I realize that Frank is somewhere in between Charlie Molnar and Greg Carvel in how much hype they use about new players, but it does seem like the depth is better.Juice Stand wrote: Thu Aug 06, 2026 12:18 pmHere you go, 69. Juice, to you I say, "much obliged, director" for posting this. If anyone knows where this phrase comes from, you are a fan of a show I watch a lot.

Sorry that was thick sarcasm.
I actually think they will be better this year as well.

Yes, very cool news about the exhibitions. I'm glad they stayed focused on giving us a rundown of the team and summer workouts and didn't get bogged down too much in NCAA rule changes and transfer portal gripes.69MG wrote: Thu Aug 06, 2026 10:19 pmI enjoyed this. 3 exhibition games in October against D1 teams, with refs, open to the public. No clue about the phrase, but I'm very curious to hear what show it's from. Any takers?

Team posted a photo of their visit to Fenway yesterday. Saw an amazing, record-setting game!

^ Wow, they saw an absolute cracker of a game. Buster Olney is calling it "the game of the year, without a doubt, and one of the greatest regular-season games ever".
From left to right: Wimbley, Zemjlic, Martin, Clayton, Hailey, Castineyra, Helgason, Ndjigue, Ahmed, Sylla, Engel, Clerc. The ones not present are Carbuccia, Wang, and Damjanac.

No takers!! Mike Franks comment to Director Leon Vance of NCIS after being handed an airline ticket and being told "don't miss your flight". One of my favorite shows.

Terrible Mens Scheduling
The scheduling for men's basketball is a disgrace.
Total of 10 games in November/December. I of which is with a Division 3 and one is a MAC game. Thus, in reality, 8 our of conference games. No Harvard no URI.
Women, on the other hand, 12 out of conference games. No MAC games, no division 3 games. They are actually in a 4 team tournament at St. Pete/Tampa.
Could Men have made some out of conference tournament? A total embarrassment.

Van, you need to lower your expectations in terms of UMass athletics.
Retarded artistically. Idiotic in other respects.
