Re: 2026-27 Season
I did a JFK "ASK NOT WHAT YOUR BASKETBALL TEAM CAN DO FOR YOU SIGN" many years ago. It's currently in my personal archives in MA.Steve81 wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 7:24 pmI don't know why some people think UMass owes them. Let me set the record straight, UMass owes you nothing! You are not entity to special invites with out support. If that is your expectation, I'd say you are fans with a bad attitude. As John Kennedy said with a twist, it's not what UMass basketball can do for you, it's what you can do for UMass basketball. No strings, that is loyalty.Floyd wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 6:00 pm They ought to be paying fans to go to open practices. Pay $2500 and you MIGHT receive an invite to a practice? Insanity. This program is a mediocre lower level program that acts like its an elite program. Big salaries for little results. There's no pressure to win
The angle of incidence = the angle of reflection: REBOUND!
Re: 2026-27 Season
What the fuck are you even talking about. Dont throw my name around as participating in shit I had nothing to do with. And I never asked for "freebies" to be a fan. The point was, if they want the fan base to come back, maybe try not alienating the longtime followers with expected donations for the opportunity to be a UMass fan. Fans are fans at whatever level they want to be. I dont " expect" anything from UMass, other than watching a good game when I attend. Your hollier than thou attitude about who is classified as a good or bad fan is nauseatingSteve81 wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2026 1:11 pmMy posts started as a response to 69MG post regarding "secret" practice.Steve81 wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 7:24 pmI don't know why some people think UMass owes them. There's no pressure to winThen Floyd, who I don't know if the he was the guy, who helped by having Swampy also using his Bruiser connection to get us on the coach's list to the sold out game at the Bonnies, first A10 game in January 2000. Also pass the game program to him during the game. But the comment was directed at him and a swipe at some that are so called loyal fans that seem to have reason not to support the program, but then want freebies. I never posted about open practices as Floyd twisted the posts. We can agree to disagree on our views of loyal fans.69MG wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 10:04 am ^ I also think Pat must have given up on The Collective. I haven't seen anything about it in a long time. As for the open practice, I think you have to be at a high level amount to the Court Club.
Edit: I don't think they do the open practice anymore, unless it is done in secret. The Court Club used to have its own benefits page but I no longer see one
All that said, prefer the exhibition games to be on weekends when more people can attend and have the team engage with the fans after the game. I never posted about open practices as it is something I never would go to. I did not go to the invite to a practice for the women's team as well.
Re: 2026-27 Season
I'm glad you are expressing yourself. Perhaps they will do an open practice. Sorry some fans won't donate because they don't like the coach, the ad or posters as Steve81. In the mean time, other programs are separating from us more and more. I'll stop but from time to time encourage to give if you can. I can remember when giving $100 and buying season tickets was a big strain on the budget.
We all have various views of making UMass basketball better. Many as your self with more fan engagement. That can only help.

Re: 2026-27 Season
I think thats called "blind Loyalty" UMass should be doing as much as possible for anyone that spends a couple thousand a year on the program.. doesn't have to be a ton but even as much as 1 open practice would go a long way.. there's a reason why people in sales give stuff to clients. They want to keep them. Giving nothing back, especially when you arent performing to people that are loyal to you, just means in a little while you will have no one.Steve81 wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 7:24 pmI don't know why some people think UMass owes them. I quoted former president John F. Kennedy, who was not alive, even in the aol days. Have zero issue and think it is good to have open practices, but see how you could interpreted,. When answering 69 MG question if there was still "secret" practices. Open practices, kids free, free t-shirts are all promotion and to some extent marketing. Consider a private practice a perk, where 40 people is extremely cramped on the side.PreecherJenkins wrote: Sat Jul 11, 2026 4:18 pmUMass fans' commitment accoring to Steve81Steve81 wrote: Sat Jul 11, 2026 9:00 am I'm glad you are expressing yourself. JFK is the man who's name is on the practice facility, not the President from 1960....

Re: 2026-27 Season
Non-conf schedule has dropped.
https://umassathletics.com/news/2026/7/ ... e-schedule
https://umassathletics.com/sports/mens- ... l/schedule
Observations...
- Hosting Bryant and visiting Northeastern is new news. Northeastern on Thanksgiving eve in Boston.
- Bryant is now headed by Jamion Christian, who we saw at GW from 2019-22.
- Stonehill stayed on the slate, moved to the busy pre-Christmas weekend.
- UM Boston again. I hate the D3s but everyone does them now.
- No Harvard this year. I'd rather play them than Maine or Stonehill, but it is what it is.
- The potential return game at Arizona State didn't materialize. Looks increasingly like that may die.
No hoop/hockey double-headers so far.
No WBB schedule details out yet.

Re: 2026-27 Season
I retract my comments about BC`s lame OOC schedule after seeing this garbage.

What were you hoping for?69MG wrote: Mon Jul 27, 2026 11:44 am I retract my comments about BC`s lame OOC schedule after seeing this garbage.
Hoop Hall helped us get 2 ACC games in the state.
We're constrained to 10 non-conf games due to the MAC schedule. Blame Ryan Bamford for that.
We're obligated to spending two on the MAC/SBC Challenge. Again, blame Ryan.
At least one D-III game is the norm now.
I'm not eager to play Maine or Stonehill either, but this slate is not at all surprising for a program like ours.

WOW - that is an unimpressive slate. At least we have some quality conference gam..... oh wait... never mind
