He wanted to stay for grad courses or something but Ryan Bamford told him NO. So he went to Auburn in 2018 and of course Auburn goes on to win the Music City Bowl in 2018. then in 2019 Auburn goes 9-4 and guess how UMass did with Coach Gomer in 2019: 1-11. Only 80 more days and the misery starts..........
I hadn't heard the AD story before, but as I think back it has some juice. As an Isenberg Alum and donor, I got to know Mark Fuller pretty well. He was a big sports fan and we had a few chats about BB and FB. When the Driscoll fiasco happened, I asked Dean Fuller what happened. I assumed it was an admittance issue. Fuller didn't answer my question, he just kind of shook his head. As I look back at it, maybe he was saying it was out of his control.

It will be a battle to see who emerges as QB2. I keep reading how high they are on McCarthy, but do you trust a freshman if Pop goes down (PRAY this does not happen).

The transfer from Drake, Inagawa, had pretty good numbers against the likes of Butler, South Dakota, etc. The MAC is a big step up. Then there is Perry, who has been with the team for 2 years with almost no playing time.

It's hard to know what to expect from McCutcheon (does that name bring back memories). His numbers were OK in JUCO, but no idea what kind of team he had or the level of competition.

Here are last year's stats on Inagawa and McCutcheon:

If I was Coach Joe, I wouldn't even play Pop at Rutgers. Maybe give him a few reps but we don't stand a chance against Rutgers. I don't know what to expect in 2026. Can Sacred Heart and Stonehill be wins??? Can't believe 15 years into FBS and I'm actually saying can we beat an NEC team? Stonehill has an enrollment of 2,500 students. UMass has 31,000 students.

My son is going to Wisconsin. They play Notre Dame at Lambeau for the opener. UMass is just snake bitten: The Temple game in 2015 when they blocked a PAT and took it down for a game winning FG. I will NEVER get over the missed FG by Lurie against Liberty as time expired and then Liberty goes on to win in OT. The muffed punt return against Hawaii. I want UMass to win a damn football game so bad but it just seems impossible.

FWIW: My Umass Football prediction:
We have a good season this year...4+ wins.
Next year we go to a bowl then Harasymiak gets poached by a real football school.
And we're back to sucking again.
One can dream......

Excellent news on the addition of Aussie Freshman Michael Streeter - Hopefully he's got a good leg. We're only about 10 weeks from the opener at Piscataway !

We've always had special team issues so this is a good one.. Aussie punters are the future. Currently 15% of NFL punters are Aussie.

Nothing earth shocking with Phil Steele prediction for UMass with 3-5 wins.
Be proud of the present and look to the future.
