I get it: UMass athletics under Bamford has become Alice in Wonderland. A deck of cards come to life (with the exception of Hockey) where up is down; losing is winning; etc. Football players make a great play like an interception and naturally celebrate, so the head coach HAS TO throw them off the field and straight to the locker room

^ Will be nice when they recruit players who already have a team first mentality, have already experienced success and possess the self discipline to to care more
about team success than individual accomplishments.
Then the coaches can focus on coaching individual skills and how they benefit the team!

It's not difficult: UMass earned a 1 pt victory over Buffalo and pissed it away due to a few selfish players behaving like undisciplined damned fools. Don't wave bye bye to your opponent... don't lie down on the field and start doing snow angels.... The player making the snow angels on the field was a UMass CAPTAIN. Totally selfish idiocy costing his team valuable field position and likely the game since Buffalo had 3 timeouts and only needed a FG to win. One of the stupidest things ever seen on a football field. 10 Yd Penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct - Very Easy call b/c the UMass CAPTAIN acted like an unsportsmanlike fool. UMass' drops to 0-7 on its way to 0-12.... But yes by all means let's blame the Coach for holding players accountable for selfish stupid behaviors that result in losing football games ... Brilliant That was 100% on the players - selfish, no discipline, no accountability, dumb penalties - thats how losing football teams behave.

What do we see after the spring game? - new QB Pop Watson - supposedly a team leader - making a dumb selfish unsportsmanlike comment after having been given the privilege of addressing the team and the fans on behalf of UMass Football - what does Pop do w/that responsibility? he pisses it away and makes a dumb selfish public comment that disrespects the University, disrespects UMass Football, disrespect Thorr, Coach H, disrespects the MAC and disrespects his MAC opponents - and for no reason at all - just completely stupid. Not what I want to see from my QB and a team leader. These players have seemingly learned NOTHING from their past mistakes - emotional and mental errors. If this continues it is 100% on Coach H - he doesn't have their attention and clearly they don't respect him.

So upgrade McGuirk ... yes. But until this team begins behaving like a fundamentally sound, disciplined football team that isn't just a bunch of selfish idiots doing and saying whatever they feel like - the results will not change. Hope I'm wrong BTW. But I seriously have a hard time donating and buying ST and Premium Parking when Thorr is turning the Microphone over to a team leader who's first inclination is to tell everybody "we gonna fuck the MAC" Has he even apologized for that comment to his teammates and coaches and Thorr???

After reading countless Reddit posts and threads concerning UMass football, one of them got me: UMass should employ the craziest offensive schemes etc. The poster was right. Take the weirdest high school trick plays and go with that. UMass football has hit rock bottom = we have nothing to lose. WE ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL. To light off fireworks after kicking a field goal in a game that we were getting blown out of is.............pathetic.......beyond embarrassing.......

Forget The Junkyard..it is what it is. There are NO PLANS for a new one or renovations. Sad but true.

Coach Cal from 30 years ago is ancient history with #1 AP ranking. 2006 we played for the men's LAX championship, now we can't even get in the tourney. If this FBS thing was done correctly, you tear down McGuirk and Bob Kraft was nice enough to let us Gillette no charge while the stadium was being built. That was his wife Myra who had a soft spot for UMass. Coach Joe and Frank Martin make THE MOST in the MAC salaries. Bamford makes $1,000,000 per year. What a joke.

The part that puzzles me the most is how Bamford has seemingly escaped all accountability in this. The stadium is one thing, that ultimate decision is above his pay grade (although ironically, Bamford makes more than all those people who are in charge of that decision). But the inept management of the rest of the Athletic Department cannot be unseen by his bosses - do these people really just not give a shit?
