Not a Master Plan update, but some movement here on Campus Housing changes. Might be worth keeping an eye on related to McGuirk as well...

Thought the same thing when I saw it. They will be building new dorms before tearing down old ones....an athlete village in between McGuirk and Rudd would be elite and allow som more building... BTW on the WMUA interview with Thorr he said the only stuff for this season will be the video banner, ADA compliance and railings, and better sound system.

The timing and bursts of sound are the same in almost all of the college games I’ve gone to no matter the venue. Penn State had almost the same playlist as did FSU. It is annoying as hell. I miss the band being the main source of sounds. Kick offs used to be the only moment for piped in music. Now it is almost every play sometimes in competition with the band. I’m old but not that old, too.

Obnoxious music/sound Off works for me.  Also prefer PA who clearly announces the game instead of screaming like we are at a monster truck rally ....

I definitely agree about the "screaming like we are at a monster truck rally..." and I strongly prefer the band over a piped in soundtrack. That being written, I haven't been to many UMass sporting events in several years, with the exception of few hockey games every year, as I'm still watching my own kids play sports and paying significantly for the privilege of doing so.

This is the BRIGHT Act stuff... highly doubtful any of that would go to athletic structures. Would be nice, though.

EDIT: I skimmed the article, ignore what I originally had here about DuBois. *facepalm*

Correct - not even a hint of spending on sport facilities in that article. I retract my statement on ADA Compliance.

Yep, infrastructure spending for sports structures generally doesn’t just magically happen. I’m really hoping Thor will be tasked with getting this project going. If anybody can get it done within the UMass bureaucracy, it’s probably him.

skimmed the article, too. Not a peep about McGuirk, of course. My son is going to Univ of Wisconsin so I might be catching games at Camp Randall Stadium. Think Minnesota is their season end rivalry. I don't care; I'm going to TRY AGAIN and see if I can't make it for the Sacred Heart game. If we lose to either Sacred Heart or Stonehill I'm morphing into Max Page and calling for it to END.

No they actually can't - the source of the funding is specific in what it can be used for and that DOES NOT include Athletic facilities.
