Some recent info on Kylie. We're losing Meg and Lilly so we will need some help in the front court. I never expect a lot from freshmen, but maybe Kylie will be the exception.

Congratulations to future Minutewoman Kylie Sooley on being one of the 24 players named to the 2026 All Canadian Girls team!
This is from earlier, but a good read:

Thanks for posting all that. That was a good read! It looks like Kylie will be well prepared to join UMass. I agree, it's hard to say what a freshman might contribute, but Mike hasn't hesitated to play freshmen with the capacity to be competitive, like Chinenye, Perk, and of course, Yahmani, who have all been contributors in their first seasons. Sounds like Kylie is an anchor on her team's defense, and that in and of itself is promising.

Good luck to UMASS Commit Imani Shelton (@im_imanis) in the @CarolinasCHoopsClassic today!
She was selected to compete as 1 of the top 10 players in NC.
She is a 6'1 forward and we can use front court help.

Welcome home, Reagan‼️

Hurst comes to Amherst after four years at Tennessee Tech. This past season, Hurst averaged 12.0 points per game and posted double-digit points 21 times, including a season-high of 21.

^ Looks like a role player, but we do need depth. Shooting stats aren't great, except free throws.

32 minutes a game and 12 pts per game are a pretty significant role….

Volume scorer on a mediocre team. Took 11 shots per game and made less than 4 for 32%. We need better than that as a starter.

Freshman year was 38%
Spophomore was 36%

UM shot 42% and opponents shot 34% last season.

Not really high shooting percentages in the Women’s game.

And another: A transfer from Ball State. 6'3" from Spain with three to play.

UMass Women's Basketball @UMassWBB
Welcome to UMass, Alba ‼️
Caballero comes to Amherst after appearing in 23 games for Ball State last season, shooting over 56 percent from the field in 334 minutes of action and recording two double-doubles.

This from the Ball State site:

Ball State head women's basketball coach Brady Sallee has announced the signing of Alba Caballero (Ciudad Real, Spain) to the 2025-26 roster.
"Alba is a great addition to our program," Sallee said. "She is the definition of a "go-to big." We love her versatility! She has real 3-point range, she can put it on the floor from the perimeter, has a high-level back to the basket game and excels in the 2-man game! We believe she will prove to be a matchup nightmare for our opponents."

Caballero, a highly decorated European player, found success in her prep career. She has earned multiple national championship medals including a Gold National Championship Medal of Communities and a Silver Medal at the European Young Olympics with Spain. Caballero has earned spots on the U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18 national team rosters as well as participated in Basketball Without Borders Phoenix 2024 showcase. Currently, Caballero is a member of the La Cora De Paterna Valencia Basketball Team.

^Nice! 1 of her 2 double doubles on the year was against UMass, so coach liked what he saw and went for it.

So far this offseason, for men's and women's basketball, we lost 1 to Ball State and we got 1 from Ball State.

She's a 5'11 Guard/Wing. Here info on her from the Baltimore Sun. I think Mike got a good one.
The Baltimore Sun
@baltimoresun
There was one goal for Kiki Scott and Rosedale Christian girls basketball this season: Prove they had the best team in the Baltimore metro. Along the way, the senior guard proved herself the best in the area.

The opportunity came on March 3. Facing St. Frances in the Maryland Private School State Tournament quarterfinals, the Panthers finally had their chance against a program they felt had long overlooked them. Scott knew what was at stake, and she delivered with 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in a 74-67 upset victory.

“They are always talking a lot. They always swear St. Frances is this, St. Frances is that,” Scott said. “Putting Rosedale on the map was my biggest goal.”

For her efforts, Scott is this year's Baltimore Sun All-Metro girls basketball Player of the Year. Read more: https://bit.ly/4sl3YUa

Per sources, UMass beats out Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Seton Hall for Butler transfer Caroline Dotsey.
UMass Women's Basketball
@UMassWBB
Welcome 🏠 Caroline!

Dotsey comes to Amherst after appearing in 31 games for Butler last season, averaging 7.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 701 minutes of action. Dotsey recorded 12 games scoring in double figures last season, including a season-high 25 points against Xavier.
She's a 6'2 forward with 1 year to play. Mike has added some size to the roster.
