Yeah Cleveland's alright. It's not a top tier city but the R&R HOF is a great add to their downtown. And you stay in the city center the HOF and all the sports venues are walkable.69MG wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 2:56 pm When I first graduated, I travelled a lot for work and went to Cleveland a few times. There used to be a bar in Framingham that had .10 beers every tuesday. Got so crowded you thought it was Friday. Could go out with change in your pocket & get a good glowPlano Minuteman wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 3:05 pmAh, so charging $15 per beer at games is an altruistic measure to keep fans in line. Once alcohol is given away for practically free, we lose all control.

Not a real big downtown, but it works. W 6th or the Winking Lizzard (where PJ puked on his 21st bday) for those of you looking for a drink. Playhouse square to enjoy a show after Thursday's win. Morton's or Cleveland Chop for a nice dinner.

At KenPom.com, Miami ranks No. 91 while UMass lands at No. 201. In the NCAA's NET ranking, Miami holds the 53rd spot and Massachusetts sits at 203rd.

A betting site posted this and says they will give their "lock of the year" tomorrow on this game. Any news from our end? I remember us getting the flu in an A10 tournament that we might have won. It didn't go well.

Miami Ohio vs Umass
Someone on our team has got news that one of these teams is battling with the flu. Yet this is not widespread knowledge to the public. They have to play this game because it is the conference tournament.

The way this season has gone, it'll be Miami that has the flu but we'll manage to blow a double digit 2nd half lead anyhow.
Give WBB more money.

There are two games in this program’s history that should never be spoken about and that is one if them.69MG wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 9:41 pm A betting site posted this and says they will give their "lock of the year" tomorrow on this game. I thought we got the flu in the NIT vs I think Alabama when Ford was coach. I'm forgetting the A10 tournament flu.

Illness weakens Minutemen as they start Atlantic 10 tourney run
By Matt Vautour, Daily Hampshire Gazette Staff Writer, 3/8/2007
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team is in its worst shape heading into the biggest game of its season.
The Minutemen have been weakened by a flu-bronchitis virus that swept through the players and coaching staff and left coach Travis Ford unsure of what his lineup will look like for tonight's Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinal game at 6:30 against Saint Louis.
Luke Bonner was the first to get sick and struggled on the way back from Philadelphia where the Minutemen ended the regular season Saturday with a 71-67 win over Saint Joseph's.
Since then every player except Etienne Brower and Dante Milligan has been affected. Those who got it earlier are improving, but some players - including all-conference big men Rashaun Freeman and Stephane Lasme - have only recently gotten sick.

The team was at the women’s game last night and they all looked pretty healthy to me.69MG wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 9:41 pm A betting site posted this and says they will give their "lock of the year" tomorrow on this game. Alright, so after the women's disappointing one-and-done, it's up to Frank and the men's team to live up to the "respectful intent to be the standard of excellence" that Bamford promised. Trying not to be too hard on the women because they had a very good season and should get a lower level postseason invite, but this first year in the MAC has been a bust across the board...unless the guys can pull a heap of rabbits out of their hat.
I'll have the game on at the office and do my best to give off the impression that I'm actually working. Rooting for the guys despite my pessimism.

I do recall being there a week or so after the disastrous 10 cent beer night at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, fondly called "The Mistake on the Lake". Fans got so drunk they charged the field and disrupted the game so badly it was called off and the Indians had to forfeit the game.
Google "10 cent beer night" for more details.
The Arcade building downtown is also worth visiting. It's a really old and beautiful Victorian structure.
10 Cent Beer Night! A night that everyone thought would live on forever as the biggest stadium fan folly ever.... until Disco Demolition night happened in Chicago.

Ugh, the flu game in Atlantic City
With that said, the Men were in the crowd behind the bench supporting the Women last night. I didn't see exactly who was or was not there (hard to tell on TV), but we certainly did not seem like a team battling a locker room illness.
