Clinched home playoff game. Worst we can finish is fourth. Hockey East already has the standings updated.

Tremendous win.

Out of town scores didn’t really go UMass’ way tonight. Hopefully those CCHA teams ahead of UMass all get two losses this weekend.

Could be that Ryan Bamford is the smartest guy in the room. Knows that football and basketball is self-cannibalizing, and as a result, he won't overleverage the balance sheet on the minor league rustbelt circuit. In the meantime, he holds strong on one of the nation's premier hockey teams, a team that won't be in competition with the SEC and B10, like those other sports, a team that fits in a premier regional conference.

Hockey, truly a wagon at UMass. Let's get another one on Sat.

1) B1G does play college hockey
2) UMass should strongly consider doing this. Do in hockey what UConn has in basketball.
3) This obviously isn’t the current plan as IIRC UMass is outspending everyone in the MAC in football and MBB

^ 1) Would love to get tickets for the USC-UCLA game …..lol……manage to be under 10 , with only 7 schools participating (including ND).

Wow Hrabal was a wall and the save at the end was epic. Ice was tilted most of the night but the boys played solid. Exceptional goal to take the lead 50 seconds later. what a last 5 minutes!! Doing what they can . Be nice to make the Hockey East Finals

Curious about this. Would you mind expanding?
We won and tied against a team higher than us and I think we dropped a spot. I don't know how the formula works, but it doesn't seem to have helped us compared to pairwise.
Just saw this on X. This person understands the formulas better than I do and this is why I don't like NPI even if I can't explain it:

As of right now there would be 4 Hockey East teams in the field in the Pairwise with UMass at #14 and Maine on the bubble looking to be the fifth. Under the NPI those slots are all going to CCHA teams, with Mankato, St. Thomas, and Augustana ranked collectively 10 slots higher.

Phenomenal win, albeit it ugly early on. Won the only stat that matters, goals!

Hockey East:
3rd place with 40 points, behind PC and UConn (41 points).
-UConn faces PC - will be interesting to see if PC keeps their foot on the gas or rests up for the HE Tournament.
-UMass plays at UNH - need to win, plain and simple. Big chance at getting up to 2, and also need to hold off BC (4th place, 39 points).

NCAA Tournament (NPI):
Up to 18 after last night's win. Long way to go here, still a chance. I still think we need to win out until the HE Finals and have a lot of other games go our way.
- In a vacuum, beating UNH jumps us to 15.

As Jake Taylor famously said to Roger Dorn and the Cleveland Indians: "Well, then, I guess there's only one thing left to do. .... Win the whole fucking thing."

I agree UMass needs to win the conference tournament to go to the NCAAs. Seems like every out of town score has gone against UMass the last few days-especially Wisconsin sweeping Penn State.

Oh well. Hopefully the 4 CCHA series go 3 games. Would be especially helpful if some of the CCHA teams ahead of UMass lost in 3.

And if next season the NPI has UMass 10 but pairwise would have UMass 20, would you like NPI better?
