This game was a summary of the Frank Martin era - lack of coaching and zero game plan in the most important minutes of the game. Folding during crunch time

They do fold. Why the press now?

This game seemed like a foregone conclusion. I mean this sincerely: has Frank won any meaningful game since he’s been here? Seems like every big game is a dud - particularly at home.

Tough. Cannot foul that much and expect to win. Got some stops but then a silly turnover. Need to be better but maybe this is the team we get. Certainly can score. Not so much tonight. On to the next

What is Frank’s highlight during his time at UMass.. I honestly can’t think of oneUMassFan99 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 9:00 pm This game seemed like a foregone conclusion. Re: Game 27, 2025-26: Miami OH (2/17)
Miami played us really well.
Our leading scorer: Miami got Bettiol to foul out
2nd leading scorer: Suder frustrated the hell out of Banks, held him to 4-12, hung 4 fouls on him, and got him to a team-low -15
3rd leading scorer: Parker was held to just 3 shots
4th leading scorer: DHS was overall ineffective, 8 & 5, both below his averages, and a -14
And our glue guy, Ndjigue fouled his way to just 13 minutes. One of those whistles was suspect but whatever
It took an unexpected D-I career high from Placide, and a near-career high / shocking trio of 3s from Carbuccia, to keep us in it.
And we're just not good enough to shut them down on D when it mattered.
Not that beating us is the gem on their resume, but I think Miami has proven their case that they should get in as an at-large if it comes to that.

^They should be a lock for an at-large - 26-0 speaks for itself, I don't care what conference you are in

Just wait though when the 12th-place Big Ten team gets a bid.inthescoop wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 9:34 pm ^They should be a lock for an at-large - 26-0 speaks for itself, I don't care what conference you are in
I'm not far from kidding. Washington is 12th in the Big Ten, and had a 52 NET starting today. Miami had a 51.

The students showed up, the radio said 2200 students. Def a fun atmosphere but never felt we would take it over. Didn't see Parker play much in the second when we needed points.. Another game with a descepency at the ft line. Miami was 24 of 33. We were 9-16. Disappointing loss.
Re: Game 27, 2025-26: Miami OH (2/17)
Of his first 8 games as UMass coach, 7 Ws, including winning the Myrtle Beach tournament and a thriller over Harvard. Almost all downhill from there. At 6-8 in the MAC, this season stinks. Finally get a great crowd to come, but can't win a big one. Had some moments tonight, but can't make a key play when needed the most. In their first game vs Miami, I thought the RedHawks didn't have much of a defense, but tonight they did.inthescoop wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 9:16 pmWhat is Frank’s highlight during his time at UMass.. I’ve tried to keep the faith but I dunno anymore. We can’t win any pivotal games and are lackluster in the MAC. How far we have fallen. I still can’t get over Bamford having a job. I’m tired of supporting UMass tbh. Been a die hard alum for 25 years but think this is my last season of paying any attention. Bamford has ruined UMass sports for me and Frank isn’t helping. I won’t be donating another penny to UMass.

Miami is legit! We gave them everything we had - including the best crowd we had in 15 years and they still won! We played a hell of a game - tied with under 7 minutes left but just could not get a stop! Hats off to Miami - they hit every clutch shot/FT...if they somehow lose in the MAC tourney and do not make the NCAA's - that would be a crime! They would be a nightmare for a fringe ACC/SEC/Big 10 team! These kids don't make mistakes - if they are in a close game vs one of those 6 or 7 seeds, I'm taking Miami (OH) all day long.
Don't hang your heads UMass...nothing to be ashamed of tonight! Better team won TONIGHT! Doesn't mean we cannot win three weeks from tonight in Cleveland!

Can’t get upset about losing to Miami. They were the better team on both ends of the court. I thought Leo picking up his 4th foul was the crucial play in the game. He needs to understand that his staying in the game was more important than giving up two points. They simply have no one who can come close to replacing him and Luke had what I thought was his worst game of the season, bad enough that Frank even went to Clerc.
