2025 Season
QB
I would spend 75% of NIL money on Offensive Lineman. At this point having a good OL is far more important than worrying about even the QB position as there are plenty of QBs that can be servicable. OL even plays defense in a way. Control the clock and keep a marginal D off the field (not that we have a marginal D but the plan needs to be to get to that level).
Re: 2025 Season
I was just looking at the 2024 results and was like man we lost a lot of close games, that was a hell of a lot more fun than whatever this is this year.

Re: 2025 Season
Totally different world from even last year. My girlfriend (a trooper who makes the trek with me) was saying last night that last year the team was at least exciting and fun. This year she's bored to death watching.Quann wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 8:47 am I was just looking at the 2024 results and was like man we lost a lot of close games, that was a hell of a lot more fun than whatever this is this year.
Re: 2025 Season
UMass has and had structural issues and the administration has accepted and acted. After the season on Dec 1st, a new Sr. Deputy AD will start. He has been URI AD for the past 18 years and is specifically hired to address the situation. Thorr Bjorn is a people person, said all the same things at his press conference last night as he travelled up to this game and will for the last game. The first thing is he will work on the 'Why' of the lack of success.
The fact is we had some good players, but mistakes whip it out and the injuries pile up. The players read the media and does affect them to a degree.
Looking forward to what Thorr has to say in the coming months about the 'Why' and how we will address it. OF course extremely interested in the recruiting and how many players we retain as lost 46-48 last season and imagine will loss some again.

Select number of students there about 4 minutes left in the game.

Re: 2025 Season
Accepted after 13/14 years in the FBS? Acted in what ways specifically so far? Please don't just say "investment." The increase in coaches salaries and NIL clearly hasn't worked, the stadium looks as bad as ever, the crowds are smaller and quieter than ever. I say this as someone who comes hours each way to support this program. I don't want it to be like thisSteve81 wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 10:52 am UMass has and had structural issues and the administration has accepted and acted. Clearly Bamford has compromising pictures.... There is no other way a person can be as futile as he has been and keep his job for so long (and get fucking raises).umassbaseball wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 10:55 amAccepted after 13/14 years in the FBS? Re: 2025 Season
This offseason is going to be quite literally make or break for the entire program. If the NIL money and promised other investments don't work, nothing else is going to. I'm worried about being able to get players here
Re: 2025 Season
Thank you, umassbaseball. Your comment is exactly on point. Since we've become the laughingstock of college football, what player with a decent amount of talent will see UMass as a desirable destination? Our ONLY hope is to overspend with the NIL money, hopefully making the right choices to "buy" players who can actually help us win a few games next year. But frankly, I'm not optimistic. Regardless of what happens to Bamford, we may have crossed a tipping point where recovery is unlikely. Even if I'm wrong (and I hope I am), it's going to be a slog until we get back to respectability.
Re: 2025 Season
Agree, but in addition, will we be able to get players who are MAC championship level players.umassbaseball wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 12:25 pm This offseason is going to be quite literally make or break for the entire program. All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: 2025 Season
The offseason will be important. The most important aspect will be improving personnel to become far more competitive on both sides of the ball particularly the OL and LBs.
Re: 2025 Season
I posted this about a week ago. Now I think I have my answer:
At this point I almost have to laugh about how bad we are. My question is, how bad does it have to get before we can legitimately say, there is nowhere to go but up? I realize there is no answer but it's a thought.

And please keep in mind there are only three winless teams in all of D1 college football (out of 265 teams)
And for good measure there are officially 667 college football teams in grand total of all levels - There are 24 winless teams
Re: 2025 Season
My answer is that I think we're there. If not, we are very close. For me, that's close enough. I've been to 1 game this year, homecoming. It's a game we could have won, maybe should have won if not for dumb play and foolish penalties. It's gotten progressively worse since then. Can we lose any worse than 45-3 to a 2-9 team that previously had no offense? If we do, I retract my statement about being there. Unless I lose my mind, this is probably my last post this year about FB.
My energy is going to men's and women's BB and to hockey. Praying they keep me sane.

I have a bad feeling about Bowling Green - that game may make NIU look like a nail biter and BG is not that good either.69MG wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 12:20 pm My answer is that I think we're there. I have to reserve all judgement on hoops until Christmas. Cream-puffs make you fat. They need to play a little better competition before I am claiming up or down. Losing to Marshall was disappointing, but I will give them a little rope being the first real game and all. As I read the rest of the OCC, they gotta have 8 or 9 wins or the MAC is a blind tossup.
Re: 2025 Season
The Buffalo loss affected us all. Perhaps some of the players as well.
