A win this season would help a lot. Think we have a decent chance to win both home MACtion games. Let's see how they do Wednesday. Hope they come out with attitude, purpose and fight

I hope to be proven wrong, but I don't see any wins this season.

I hope you're proven wrong as well. However when we're playing FBS teams w/FCS personnel at some positions due to lack of depth or otherwise there isn't a lot of room for error or optimism. Add to that just dumb penalties and there is less room for optimism.

Happy talk from Bamford about what he's gonna do is next year or over the course of 5 years isn't helping. Go out and win a game.

Steve thinks we can win every game, so far he’s 0-9.

Why do we have FCS personnel? Seems like that should have been worked out in year 1-2 of transition. Year 14? Whoever is to “blame,” I think for radically different reasons we can all agree that UMass is simply not up to the task of being an FBS school. Maybe better parking would help.

Where have you been JLH. This has been covered and covered.
1) We had 46-48 players hit the portal with the coaching change and some of our best players.
2) We did not hire a new head coach till National Signing Day.
3) With all new staff and so many needs, the staff, like most years, seemed to miss in the portal. Then add injuries to the key players.

We played walk ons last game.
Our Composite rating was #145 from 247 sports.

After Patriots game question to you. JLH, in the last 40 years, how many of all those UMass coaches have good first year. Not many. Most started building year 2.

Coach H first major task was keeping players left, which he did. Second was to build his coaching staff. Then recruit very late.

Doesn't the number of players in the portal reflect on the new coach? It's his job to make a compelling reason for players to stay. In any case, it's not like we're alone in the NIL / Transfer Portal era. Dozens of teams face high rates of player turnover. It's the coach's job to limit turnover and make the best out of the portal. I do not think we got a good return on the $2M of NIL investment.

We signed Harasymiak on December 4th. Best I can tell, not only were we pretty early in the cycle, but the only coaching change I can see before UMass was FAU hiring Zach Kittley, who already has 4 wins and has improved on the record of his predecessor. FAU also had 33 outgoing players in the portal and 14 seniors btw.

Of the 28 coaching changes made last year, 13 have better records this year. Of the 15 with worse records, 10 of them were replacing coaches who had winning records in 2024 and would have had the opportunity to move to another job or retire.

We need to stop making excuses and start holding the people in positions of power accountable.

To be clear, I'm not calling for Harasymiak at this time. But I also think he needs to show improvement next year or that's it.

And Bamford needs to be gone. Regardless of hiring Thorr.

Well going last year with no FBS wins is not a great draw. Perhaps some of the other first year coaches had a foundation and some where not replacing the whole staff. The 46 to 48 portal guys all entered before Coach H took the job and he kept the other guys, including TY Harding, who went out for the season in the first game along with top edge transfer Franks.

No question this year is disappointing but we have games left and can be better than last year with a FBS win. Do believe minutefanjsf that we had over 500k before July 1st for this season. Was never impressed with the Utah QB transfer and think his probable NIL money was inefficiently spent. Some others could be as well.

Footnote: Spending NIL money in one fiscal year is generally for players in the next fiscal year. Coach H comment on the subject was simply, all the money promised was there July 1st. Idk, and is a cloudy issue of what money was spent when. JSF, info from informed sources was over 500k of that money was spent on this years players.

Sorry Steve, I’m loyal to Umass hoops message board but I do see that you have 6500 posts over there. I might just join to make a disclaimer post saying that Steve81 doesn’t represent the Umass fan base. The MAC posters must think we are a special fanbase if you are our lone representative.

And with the November 9th 21-17 win by Sam Houston State over Oregon State .....

Umass is THE ONLY FBS school with a winless record!

So proud............ so proud.
