Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
Yesterday was obviously disappointing, expected much better execution on both sides of the ball.
QB play was the most disappointing to me, not sure why Jordan or Hairston didn’t get some time in the 2nd half. Rose could have been intercepted several times with balls that shouldn’t have been thrown. I also don’t know why we abandoned the run in the second half? Temple was sitting in pass protection, so run the ball and make them defend it, especially when Griffin did a good job.
Let’s be honest, these first 4 games are preparation for the conference season. We have something to play for now that we are in the MAC.
I judge a season on the improvement from the first game to the last game, so I’m hoping that’s what we see and build from there.
Hoping TY is OK.

It's obvious: Temple has our number............Guys, Bryant is a win GUARANTEED.......Kent State, Akron, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois are pretty bad. I still say 2-10 or 3-9. BG barely beat Patriot League Lafayette; Kent barely beat Merrimack.

Don Brown had to be put out to pasture. Guy was way too grandfatherly. Temple has got our number. Even the blocked PAT and they took it to the house for the win.Jack wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:13 pm Good thing we fired Don Brown to pay his $1.4M buyout and hired Coach H to pay him $1.4M per yr for 5 seasons so that we could get pasted in the home opener…. Bamford’s masterplan is clearly moving swiftly towards fruition.

While hugely disappoint and have to recalibrate my expectations for the season. Especially with some key starter season ending injuries and others. That said, I want to see improvement through the season. No longer dare measure it in wins and losses. With Nobles out and both DD Snyder Zaraun Daniels, starting safeties hurt as well, don't expect much for the defense until we get healthy. Cut down on the mistakes and please dear G-d, show me Brandon Rose why you are our starting QB.Juice Stand wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 6:44 amI'm with you. It certainly looked like same old same old, but I'll give them one more game before I'm out. The problem with that is the next three games are completely meaningless, so you have to wait for homecoming against Western Michigan. Up next are FCS Bryant and the two SEC games, which won't tell me anything. I'll marginally pay attention to these next 3 and then tune in for Western Mich to see if they've pulled their heads out of their asses.

When were the secondary players injured? I think I missed that.Steve81 wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 11:19 amWhile hugely disappoint and have to recalibrate my expectations for the season. Rose could have had about 4 turnovers yesterday.. should be on a short leash next week..
Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
Daniels was hurt early but returned with his right forearm taped. Everything became a blur after a while. Think he was the guy on the ground towards the south end zone maybe 13-14 yard line, Temple side. Can not remember the timing. Guess is nearly halfway in the 3rd, but this is all a guess.minutefanjsf wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 12:06 pmWhen were the secondary players injured? Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
the only saving grace is that this year if they are 1-3 the season isn't over! Being in a league now, if you continue to get better throughout league play, you might have a chance at a bowl game. The league champ and 3rd place finisher were both 4-4 through eight games last year and went on 7 and 5 game winning streaks respectively to end the year. Last year 7 MAC teams got bowl games...one of which was 6-7 and the other 7-6. With that said, IMO, if Temple played in the MAC they would be middle of the pack, so if we're losing 42-10 at home to them we might be looking at 2 wins in conference play.
Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
I did not expect that result. I thought it would be a tight game. Temple also has a brand new coach. They were only 2.5 point favorites, turned out to be easy money.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 8:32 am The end result was what I expected. Game 1 of a new HC, new system, new players... I'm not going to lose it quite yet, long way to go.

Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
Pass defense was horrible. Hardly any pass rush that got anywhere close to the QB allowing 6 TD plays. Got a lot of work to correct this problem.
Re: Game 1, 2025: Temple (H, 8/30)
Reminded me of the Rutgers game in 2019: score first then the blow out begins. Watched Temple hang with UConn last year for most of the game. Sucks to get blown out but I predicted it in my August 11 post. We’ll get some wins this season only because the MAC has some really shitty teams.Quann wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 1:54 pmI did not expect that result. I thought it would be a tight game. To be fair, KC Keeler is an incredibly underrated coachZooMass84 wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 11:01 am It's obvious: Temple has our number............Guys, Bryant is a win GUARANTEED.......Kent State, Akron, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois are pretty bad. Funny enough, he started his career at Amherst College
Also our DC last year is now the LB coach at Temple

^ The actual DC for Temple is UMass' Brian Smith who hired Duds after DB got fired. He played for Brown & Dudzinski. I suspect the nonsensical talk of a Bowl Game will now be shelved!
