Could be anything from a new MAC Media Contract, Basketball schedule, partners, members... Who knows
or maybe football starts in a few weeks?

Can’t believe Steve81 doesn’t have a MAC 2025 thread going. Looks like it’s going to be a 1-4 start with the 1 win over FCS.

The MAC battles with the Big10 teams but they never win. It reminds me of the A10 with the Big East back in the day.

Most of the MAC play a similar non-con 4 game schedule to start the year. Umass is following the trend with the 2 power 5 games, 1 mid major and 1 FCS. Most of the conference will probably be 1-3 or 2-2.

The best showing MAC teams against the BigTen, one of the best automatous conferences in America, was Ohio. Ohio offense looked really good and the difference of the game was special teams. Ohio muffed a number of snaps and the kicker had to pick it up and the punt was blocked into the end zone for a Rutgers Touchdown (in the first half.). Final 34 Rutgers - 31 Ohio. Rutgers had a great front line and Ohio lost their entire defense starting line and more. Ohio defense came alive but Rutgers made either 4 for 4 or 5 for 5 on 4th downs.

The reason that I do not start another MAC specific thread is because for some, it's rubbing salt on the wound. It's not a blank check, but being considerate as we should all be UMass fans and not being spiteful. Some people have the 'kick 'em when they are down' mentality, which is sad but see it in almost every game thread, sport, if the team is not performing.

Let's not worry about the this category of teams or that and it is not the case in every other sports. Let's worry about UMass getting better and competing for a championship. The reality of not being in an automatous conference means they have a huge resource and environment advantage and will win over 90% of the time against the group of 6 teams. Over time like to see the MAC moving up in the group of 6 conference pecking order, but more focused on UMass getting better.
3 Goals: Move to FBS, leave the A10, be successful. Football will drive the bus!

Great game. Rutgers got the first down on 4th and short and that was the game. They went into victory formation.

Both those teams surprised me. I was also surprised how bad Ohio special teams were. The defense was all new and started terrible but by the second half only allowed Rutgers 3 points. The Ohio offense was as great. Akron was supposed to be much better than before, now it's show me. Miami OH will see how they do in there own weight class, but we even scored 3 points against #10 Missouri.

Your true to your form inthescoop. Wish you would not focus on negatives, but guess you have to be yourself.

Why is this surprising? The MAC stunk last year.

At Encore until 2am and saw San Jose State muff the FG to win it against our MAC brethren Central Michigan. Thought I was watching the Zoo 😞😞😞. My truck can’t make it to Amherst today as Watertown Ford is closed. 😞😞 I will be back at Encore casino to root on the Zoo for a victory against Temple!!! Go UMass!!!

Hey Steve, you following this awful conference? The standings are a joke. 3 teams at 3-2, 3 at 2-3, the rest have 1 win. They are 12-1 vs FCS. Umass is officially the worst team in the worst conference.
