I am sure that his advisor (s) who said to stay in the draft will make it good.
Funny how the Big 4 sports each have their own unique and completely different draft systems.

Will be a positive influence over Ace Bailey…lol….
Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
He did come out and say it wasn't about money when he stayed in the draft so I do give him a little credit for focusing on getting better at basketball (as he stated) vs chasing money. Would he have gotten better at UNC/Kansas or in the G league with some potential call ups? He might be wrong but I don't neccessarily fault him for thinking his potential was maxed out at the college level.
Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
I think the G league with potential call-ups is the same as a 2-way contract, so that's his path and as you said it's about focusing on improving his game. Salary is likely somewhere near $600K for the season, so it's hardly poverty. He can be cut and lose some, however, so probably he took extra risk and fewer $ than the portal.

Collegian article about Luis, and Matt Cross, getting a chance
https://dailycollegian.com/2025/07/two- ... gn-in-nba/
To be clear though, neither is guaranteed of making a regular season roster. Former Minutemen Tony Gaffney and Cady Lalanne had similar chances, with summer league and pre-season action, but fell just short of seeing real NBA regular season action.

DNP in all 3 Utah Jazz summer league games in their Salt Lake City tournament
Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
Seems kinda weird, you'd think they'd put all players in at some point for at least a few minutes

Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
Las Vegas summer league started today and RJ Luis is not on the Utah roster.. I knew something must be up so I looked into it and he is currently out due to knee soreness. That explains his DNP’s.
Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
Quickly watched a little last night and saw him on the bench. Not sure if it was a taped game or live
