^ I'm not sure I would be able to watch us play Arkansas. Too many conflicted thoughts. Of course, I would root for UMass, but I think we might get thrashed and that would really bother me.

I think it would be fun.

UMass and Temple are still firmly in place to play in the showcase, and another Power 6 school is expected to take Boston College’s spot. The tournament will be a three-team, round-robin format across three days (Nov. 22-24), with each team having one of the days off.
Woof. That blows. Can they really not find a 4th team? And what makes them so confident a power 6 wants to play in some bullshit round robin make believe tournament?

Do we know why BC pulled out? Did they get a better opportunity, or was it just beneath them once PC left?

Florida State is slated to replace Boston College and Providence in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase, http://OwlScoop.com has learned. Temple, FSU and UMass will play each other in a round-robin format that starts with Temple vs. FSU on November 22.
I still wish it was a 4 team event, but at least they got a "name" program.

^Upstate, Why do you think they'll stink this year?

They were top 100 in KenPom and NET last year, and Leonard Hamilton has a pretty good track record down there. UMass, Temple, and FSU is a bit of a mish mash of programs, but I'm excited and will definitely get down there for both games.

It looks like a lot of guys have transferred out (we know that scenario). Any idea of newcomers for them?

Just saw this on the FSU BB page, so I guess it's official:

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State will play Temple (November 22, 5:00 p.m.) and UMass (November 24, 5:00 p.m.) in the 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Ct., as Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and his staff continue to assemble the Seminoles' 2024-25 schedule. The round-robin tournament with predetermined opponents also includes Vermont, Delaware, Yale and Fairfield along with the Seminoles, the Owls, and the Minutemen.

I'd say it's official (as official as things get these days anyway). UMass put out something on the athletics site: https://umassathletics.com/news/2024/6/ ... me-tip-off

Somehow FSU, the last team in, gets a day off between the two games. UMass and Temple, both of which stuck to their word to play in this tournament, both have to play back-to-back games. What a joke.

Someone was going to be the odd team out, I get it. But come on.

Wouldn't surprise me if getting the middle day off was part of FSU's deal to play in this tournament.
Not a fan of this format. Wish they had gotten a 4th team, even if it had to be Bryant or some small school.

That's exactly what I assumed happened.... ACC team that needed a game anyways comes in and flexes some muscle. Probably said it was due to travel. Blah Blah Blah we're FSU, so on and so forth.

And yes, this really isn't the biggest thing in the world to get annoyed about... I get it.

Anyways, go UMass!

Monty and Jon talked about playing three games in a day at three different locations with the BABC. The guys on our team are not as ancient as IV. They can handle it.

Apparently they had legit NIL payment issues last season and it seems like it impacted their recruiting because it isn't looking great. I'm very confident that we are a better team as it stands today.
