Game 28, 2023-24: at GW (2/27)

Post by MikeUMA » Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:34 pm

Early mid-week game this week: Tuesday at GW. No TV but ESPN+ has it. 7 PM start.

GW lost last night at Saint Louis. Both are 3-11 in the standings but the tie-breaker goes against GW, so they're currently 15th.
https://gwsports.com/news/2024/2/24/men ... aint-louis

Last month, UM took care of GW, 81-67 at Mullins, without Cross. Tied at 31 at the half with some cold shooting, UM shoots .655 in the second, including 6-10 from three. Diggins new career high 25 pts. Curry 17 pts, Cohen 15 & 12, DHS 10 & 8.

That was also the start of GW's current 10-game losing streak. Their NET has slipped from 138 to 202 within that streak.

In that last 10, they're allowing 85 ppg. That has dragged down their season number of 78.8 to last in the A-15.

Winning on the road is tough, but we gotta get this one.

hope this move to the MAC isn't a distraction, because here's another crucial game. GW lost 10 in a row since visiting Amherst where Bishop went cold and stayed that way for a few games. He's hot again now (>60% on 3s with 16 of his last 26) although not enough to beat SJU and SLU. But those 2 were very close road games for GW. Need solid performances from all. As La Salle showed us, the bottom of the conference is dangerous, especially at home.

^ I was thinking the same thing. The attitude tomorrow might tell us how the players feel about the move to the MAC.

Still very much possible to have a very good season with 3 wins and a strong A10 tourney run. Let's put that stuff on the back burner and kick some arse to end out this season. Keep the momentum going on this rebuild

^ Agreed. If these 2 guys can't play our task is a lot easier. They are the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers and tied for 1st and 3rd in rebounds.
D. Buchanan Jr. F Ques Tues - Undisclosed Feb 24, '24
Buchanan has been held out of the last two contests due to an unknown issue, and it is unclear if he will take on Massachusetts on Tuesday.
G. Johnson G Ques Tues - Undisclosed Feb 24, '24
Johnson has missed the last three games with an unknown ailment, and his status for Tuesday's tilt against Massachusetts is hazy.

I hope the players are more focused on the game than we seem to be. Can't blame them if they are a bit distracted so Frank needs to keep them on point.

Keon and/or Jayden did a great job on Bishop last game. He was a non-factor, going 2-14 with 5 turnovers. He just went for 34 in his last game, 7/11 from 3.

Circle the wagons. Block out the noise. Nothing that happened yesterday affects anything they do this season. Just win baby.

Spread is staying around -7.5. Need to win this one. Going to be a high scoring game according to Vegas.

A few less faces to rip off. Johnson is a big loss for them, averaging 13.4 points, 5.6 boards and 40% from 3.
Patrick Stevens
@D1scourse

Darren Buchanan Jr. is available off the bench tonight for GW.

Revolutionaries will be without Garrett Johnson, Zam Weluche-Ume, Benny Schroder and Luke Cronin.
