Depends where u live. It's further for me. I didn't question the attendance, just responded to the post from MMGA about attendance. But on TV it looked like a lot of empty seats

That was the most enjoyable game I've seen in a while from UMass. It was a physical, we were unselfish, fast breaks, rebounding, everyone playing well and within themselves. It was an exciting brand to watch. I hope this game gave us the identity we need. DHS and Davis had a coming out party. Cohen is crafty AF. Thought Cross tried to do a little too much down the stretch but he is the guy and we need "the guy". Nadjigue D is outstandung.

All in all, hope we make some noise in Hawaii and keep this attitude mind set going.

Yes it looked pretty sparse on TV.

Juice Stand wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 10:31 am Floyd, are you saying that Springfield is harder to get to for people outside of Western Mass than Amherst? The highway runs right through Springfield and there is Amtrak service, pretty easy to get to from Boston, Hartford, New Haven, NYC. I wasn't in the building for the game, but the box score indicates a decent crowd. I was hoping for 5,000 and we didn't get quite there, but 4,264 is not bad.
the issue I had with the crowd was it seemed like each of the 3 other teams had more fans than UMass did - and while that is probably not true, they were all certainly louder.

From a TV standpoint I think the issue was there were sections for each school - each were in lower bowl - so when the Bonnies/FAU game ended - most of their fans left too and it looked quite empty on the side across from the benches. No one was sitting behind basket either.

Surprised that they didn’t have the winners of UMass/WVU and FAU/St. Bonaventure play each other and make a little mini tournament out of it.
Agreed - seems like a missed opportunity

^ Possibly because the other teams had already scheduled their max. amount of games. We had room for 1 more.

Sorry to see this. He's a key piece for WVA.

Following Saturday’s loss to UMass, Jesse Edwards has been diagnosed with a fractured right wrist and will miss the next 4 weeks.

Edwards likely fractured it on an alley oop attempt that he was unable to convert

Jesse definitely was holding his hand after the alley oop miss. That is too bad.

For what it’s worth, Radford isn’t a bad team.

Just watched WV lose in OT to a very good Ohio State team. I feel even better about the Minutemen.

Mullins is just too big for our program. I wish they had just completely gutted the cage and made it into a modern basketball arena. Or built a new arena right there at that site. A 5k seat basketball only arena with everyone right on top of the court would have been sick.

Quann, it was pretty electric in the Mullins with 9k no?
Just gotta build the program back up and fans will show up, I believe. Even with 6-6500 in there it's pretty loud

The program was getting to be too big for Mullins when Cal was here, a long time ago, for sure.

Put a consistent contender on the floor and the place will rock again.
