have to expect improvement over a 13th place finish. The stat that gets me for UMass's past season is that only one (1!!!) of the 13 scholarship players was OK to go in all 31 games. And it wasn't the 8th man in the rotation that was out the most, it was Noah. Health alone should drive improvement.
The A10 will likely have another down season and bustingbrackets sees things upside down from what we're used to. Fordham #1, Duquesne 2 and St. Joe third? The only other prediction I've seen (forget where) had SLU first and bustingbrackets has them 11th. Last year the incoming high-profile coaches (UMass and URI) were unsuccessful and the unheralded hires (at Fordham and GW did well. Unpredictable.

Do you know what predictions are?
Guesses.... educated or not, they are still guesses.

DIAMOND HEAD CLASSIC (Honolulu, Hawaii - Stan Sheriff Center)
Dec. 21, 22, 24
Teams: Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Nevada, ODU, St. Mary’s, TCU, Temple, UMass
Pretty good field for the event. See Georgia Tach - guess who we'll see if we play them? If you said a 6'9 guy who dribbles the length of the floor into traffic, you win a prize!

I hope he's a better AC than HC. 27-84 in 4 years at Holy Cross is scary bad. That's the case for many coaches so it may work out OK. 5 years at Marquette as well as stops at Drake and Ball State should have given him some good contacts. Glad it's done so that they can hit the 2024 recruiting trail.
Serious question - besides Wildens, is anyone else done after this year (of course there will be transfers)?

^ I think Wildens is the only one matriculating. Everyone else has eligibility left after next year.

I know absolutely nothing about him, but hey, welcome to UMass! I'd love to get a scouting report on this guy. Is he a tactician, a stats and computer geek, a solid recruiter? It looks like he and McCall might have had some overlap at Florida, Nelson as a player and McCall as a student manager.

Do you know if Cohen has two years left? I thought he was a one-year rental, but I'd love to be wrong about that.

If he gets his covid year back, I believe he has two more years. He had a redshirt year in 2019-20, then the covid year, is my understanding.

Recruiting players to go to a small Catholic school in Worcester, Mass sounds rough. That is usually a last option for young males.
He has connections and ties to the area, was an assistant coach at a P5 school, and is young and ambitious with a ton of coaching experience already. Actually, played P5 basketball himself and knows the game. Not sure how anyone can possibly say that this is a F- hire.

Just hope we don't have to listen to all the Billy Donovan references that MM liked to throw around.
