After Tafara played so well, here is a relevant article by @AndyWittry who previously joined our informational twitter spaces.

Re: KAEO Tafara Gapare
He was guarding guys and getting steals on dudes much smaller than him on the perimeter.. also getting blocks on 3 pt closeouts. I think he had 2 blocks but altered a ton of shots.. all this and he has no idea what he is doing yet.. lets not forget he played most of his career at the New Zealand HS level.. played a half a season at prep and very very little AAU.. so against American standards he's like a sophomore or junior in HS.. put it this way.. if he went to an American HS or Prep and played a heavy AAu schedule the last 4 or 5 years, there is zero chance he is at UMass..
Re: KAEO Tafara Gapare
Zero chance he is here without Frank Martin either. He had offers from some top programs. Glad he is here.

So glad they kept Ricky on staff after MM was let go. Kid was a great player and just a humble and hardworking kid.
What a great shot of Tafara on that block. Holy shit

Imagine what a year of an off-season strength and conditioning program will be able to do for him.

On defense he has the quickest hands since Edgar Padilla.
Re: KAEO Tafara Gapare
I've heard the same thing about Ricky and Tafare. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time. With Noah out for 3 weeks it's a bonus that Gapare is starting to figure things out.UMassfan_19 wrote: Wed Dec 07, 2022 2:15 amDon’t sleep on the role ricky Harris played tafare played for a Baltimore aau program and lots of evidence to Ricky playing a big role in his and Robert Davis recruitmentTman1319 wrote: Wed Dec 07, 2022 12:18 am Zero chance he is here without Frank Martin either. Check out the three charts that @MLBergman_ posted 20 minutes ago about Tafara. Amazing.

It's on Twitter. Search for ML Bergman if you have Twitter. But the first chart makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's rankings are completely reverse in my opinion.

^ Agree with Len. Way too technical for me. We need Stats McKinney to explain it to us old people.

^ You can search on twitter without having an account.
