Maybe UM will become a Super Premium (made up level) going forward !

GAME 7, 2022-2023: at Harvard (12/2)
Kind of surprised there isn't a thread yet for this game. Are we getting complacent?
They are 6-2. They beat Loyola at home and lost to Fordham on the road. Last night they destroyed Holy Cross 72-38 at Holy Cross. Nobody has scored over 60 against them in their last 4 games so I guess we'll see a low scoring game. I haven't seen them in action so I don't know how they play. If someone has seen them maybe you can enlighten us.
They go 8 deep, but player 7 (Lesmond) has missed the last 3 games so that shortens their bench (except against Holy Cross). It would seem we could wear them down with our depth but so often these trends don't actually happen. Just play hard, play smart (turnovers) and we should win. The game is pretty much a tossup on the sites I've looked at.

haven't seen them play but looked at their schedule yesterday to see who they had played and wasn't very impressed. The Loyola win was the best win they have and when they beat them, Loyola was struggling. Fordham is 7-1 but they have played a very weak OOC schedule - the only good team they have played is Arkansas and they lost 74-48 - Fordham beat Harvard 68-60. I know it's not an easy place to play but we are clearly the better, deeper, bigger team so I expect them to win fairly easy - similar to how we handled USF. If this happens and we come home 6-1 Mullins better be rocking Monday night!

Actually Mike started this thread a long time ago, but nobody has jumped in since September. I went on the Harvard website on Monday and picked up a couple of tickets.

Sorry for the duplication. It was so far back I didn't see it.

Thanks, Floyd. I'm still a season ticketholder but I'm not making the 190-mile round trip for every game. I live in Cambridge so Harvard is about a 1.6-mile round trip. Hope to see you at one of the Mullins games.

I saw their game vs Fordham. Harvard’s starting big was ineffective, so they went to their smaller, more mobile guy (who was better but not enough to stop Fordham's dominant big). Fordham focused on stopping Ledlum. I think it was Moore who did a great job on Ledlum, holding him to 7 points vs. the 30 he had in the previous game vs. Loyola. Not sure who UMass has as a stopper to keep Ledlum down.
Fordham didn’t guard Harvard’s Silverstein at the 3-point line and that mostly worked as he didn’t make many. I don’t think Coach Martin has it in him to leave a guy open like that, but it worked for Fordham. I think Ledlum was the problem for UMass last year, although UMass won by scoring a lot. Don’t count on that tomorrow.

One of these games TJ, Noah, RJ, and Cross will all bust out on the same night. All have the potential to have big nights

This should be a very difficult test for UMass. Tommy Amaker gets good players and is a very good coach. Despite the fact that we get a large amount of UMass fans in that building, we've had a tough time winning there. Since Amaker took over, we've played at Lavietes 4 times, losing 3 of them. All were close games with the exception of the last one, an embarrassing 34-point beat down. We're 3-1 at home in the same time period, also close games.
It sounds like there will be a large number of UMass fans on hand again. I hope we can give them a show and come away with the win. Let's see if the message coach Martin sent on Monday has been received.

Really excited about going to the game tonight. We know it's going to be a big UMass crowd so hopefully the guys put on a show.
The more Eastern and Central Mass games we play the better it is for the fanbase and for getting more people to the Bill in the long run. Whether that's at Harvard, NU, Tsongas (Lowell) or HC (DCU or Hart Center), it should continue to be a part of the scheduling strategy. Tough to draw a good crowd to Amherst for UMass Lowell or Holy Cross, but play at UMass Lowell/HC and there will be a great UMass crowd if the team is winning.
If all goes well tonight, I think Frank will see the value in this and hopefully look to get more games like this. I know Bamford has said they schedule at least 1 game near Boston for each year, but 2-3 wouldn't hurt IMO.
