Our European all-star quest continues:

Mark Divver @MarkDivver · 2m
Whispers getting louder that likely NCAA destination for '04 F Dans Locmelis will be UMass. Bruins fourth rounder played for Latvia in WJC

But here he is slated for Northern Michigan: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/6 ... s-locmelis

It appears on twitter that it is a two school battle, and that he plans to arrive wherever in September.

Today we grab one from Minnesota:

Jordan Geike @JordanGeike21 ·3h
I am very proud to announce my commitment to play division 1 college hockey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Thank you to my family, teammates, friends, and coaches for helping and supporting me along the way!#gominutemen

^ We won't see Jordan for a while, but chalk up another win for Isenberg.

Hockey Commitments @HockeyCommits

Bo Cosman (El Paso Rhinos) has committed to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 2023-2024.

Is this one new?

Puck Preps @PuckPreps
BREAKING: 4 ⭐️ recruit Kiernan Poulin has committed to UMass. He joins fellow 4 ⭐️ Tory Pitner and 3.5 ⭐️ Theo Kiss as
@UMassHockey other 2006 recruits. Really nice class shaping up for the Minutemen.

^ I know that these grades are good, especially compared to other UM teams, but with 2 Frozen Fours , a National Championship and a yearly goal of being in the running for another National Championship, they are going to need more 5 stars than 4 stars.

His dad, Kevin, played at UMass in the late 1990's.

This is a good thing. We know how weak our three current keepers are. :) Actually, Luke has two more years after this one and the other two guys have one. Good timing on Michael's arrival. Wagon!

Nathan Strauss @NathanPStrauss · 46m
UMass commit Michael Hrabal is one of just two goalies to get an A rating from NHL Central Scouting in their first 2023 report.
Hrabal, just 17 years old, has a .940 save percentage and a 2.16 GAA in the USHL. Oh, and he’s over 6’ 6” tall.

(26 players - all born in 04 or 05 - received an A rating. Hrabel is one of two goalies. He is currently slated for Fall 2024.)

Edit: I didn't notice earlier that Ryan Leonard is on the list.

At that age, he won’t be in college for 3 - 4 years.
Remember that Freshman in Hockey are usually 2-3 years older than traditional college freshman. LP is 20 in his Sophomore year and will be 21 in March

They just keep coming:

Puck Preps @PuckPreps · 20h
BREAKING: UMass gets their second major commitment of the week with 4 ⭐️ 2006 recruit Jack Galanek. The Shattuck St. Mary’s forward has 38 points in 21 games this season and is our 38th ranked American skater in the 2006 class.

Hahaha I thought the same thing!

But I would take his 14 goals and 32 points.
