2022 Season

Re: 2022 Season
Guys, I know this football "program" has been basically a laughing stock (except for 2017 & 2018) since 2012; but it is what it is. We've made every mistake and bad hire we could. But I think we have one more win this season. Probably NMSU or UConn. I know NMSU beat Hawaii but Hawaii is REALLY bad. Read "UMass football crosses the Rubicon" and it explains it all. We're not dropping back down to 1AA or dropping the "program".
Will we get spanked at EMU this Saturday? yeah it'll be our typical road blowout.

This is the football board. Please never again compare Carvel to Bell in anything you post! Makes you look even more insane.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 8:54 amHe also hired Carvel...........dennisdent wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 8:12 am ^ Don't give Bamford any ideas! Zoo I like your optimism - it is not irrational like SteveMaz.ZooMass84 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 9:00 am Guys, I know this football "program" has been basically a laughing stock (except for 2017 & 2018) since 2012; but it is what it is. That said - I am not sure I would go so far as to call them Not a Laughing stock in 2017 and 2018 though. 4 wins each year is nice and all, but other than that BYU they didn't exactly beat anyone of value. And for the record that particular BYU team was ranked 109 out of 130 that year.
I know I am pretty negative on this board. I like enthusiasm but (I think) I am working in reality. I will take and enjoy any win Umass can get, but I still need to keep it in perspective and not buy the oversell - which is why I made my comment above. As far as Steve goes, he is on meth as far as I am concerned.
This season is already a wash as far as I am concerned. They are really bad and I am not sure they will get another win this year unless they can beat Uconn or NMSU in a field goal competition.
Umass needs a break - any break to get this moving in the right direction. If there is any coach out there (willing to even take this job) who can do this it is Don Brown. He desperately needs 2 or 3 legit playmakers on offense - right now it is hard to see even 1.

After todays game? A lot to be optimistic about after this one and we can definitely beat NMSU and Pukon

We have shown improvement on defense for sure, especially in the QB pressure and turnover dept's. UConn did beat a woeful Fresno State team yesterday but I imagnine that game will be close and so to will NM St. I think we will have a shot vs Buffalo and Army as well. Let's think postive and end the season 3-9, but with the feeling that 6 wins is in our near future (2023).

As of today we statistically have the best D we have had in the FBS era.. I know our schedule has been soft but you can see it on the field. As good as the D has been, the offense and penalties are far worse. Outside if rushing we are just about dead last or last in every category. Any chance Whip comes back as the OC to suck up a few more pension years??

Army is going to have about 600 yard of rushing on us. That RB they have is a tank.stevemaz wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 6:42 am We have shown improvement on defense for sure, especially in the QB pressure and turnover dept's. Or an OC that knew how to utilize at least one of the QBs currently on the roster?
