Frank's a big name coach and a big personality, and once he was hired this program became his. His son's on the team likely because he's Frank's son rather than him being the 100% best guy for that spot. Rollie may or may not be a similar case.

A good D1 team can get by with 8 guys playing, so scholarships 9-13 usually aren't make or break. Would McCall have been secure in his job enough to bring in what some could see as a nepotism player?

Frank's brought a buddy on staff that just retired from Miami PD. I don't see any of this as being a big deal and right now I have 0 doubts on what Frank is doing with the program. Maybe his friend is the best strength coach we've ever had and maybe Brandon and Rollie will help UMass get to the top of the A10. Or maybe they're all here because of personal connections with Frank. Just calling em like I see em. If UMass jumps into the top 4 for the next 5 years I don't really care how they do it, within reason.
His son played averaged 10 mpg at South Carolina as the 10th-12th guy he can do a job in the a-10. Also rollie is a good player who has a good summer with middlesex magic got to trust Frank to know a good player when he sees one and not offer a commitable scholarship this early if he didn’t think the kid could play

Comeh Emuobor

Big time announcement coming soon 👀
From most reports, he was the highest rated of the 5 players who visited last week. He certainly has the most/highest level offers. A couple of places say it's between us and UCF. Probably because he visited both schools most recently. Not sure if he fits Frank's description of "bigger and stronger".

I know the rankings of the three dudes committed for 2023 aren’t going to knock anyone on their ass, but really after you hit a certain level of rankings, I’m not sure how much they really matter.

What I do like about these kids is that they all seem to bring one very specific skill — Davis and Castineyra are both supposed to be really good shooters and the Ndjigue kid sounds like an excellent on ball/wing defender. Those are kids who can fill roles, and maybe more if their other skills catch up a little bit. And I am a big believer in you can’t ever have enough shooting.

Agree Kyle Lofton the great Bonaventure PG was I ranked by 247 had offered from Umass canisius Manhattan and quinipiac and we saw how good he was in the a10. We are going likely have a lot of talent back that has another 2-3 years of eligibility left heading into the 2023 season it’s not a crazy idea to being in guys who fit a role and fit what Frank wants

The Emuobor kid follows Jamie Shaw from the recruiting site On3 on Twitter and vice versa. Shaw predicts Emuobor to UCF. Could be a coincidence, but I am guessing it is not as I think most of those predictions come with inside knowledge.

Dam that sucks if true. Comeh would have been a bright spot in an meh ‘23 class - so far.

If I had to guess I think it’s probably true. The accuracy percentages for predictions on the recruiting sites are all generally quite high. I think it’s because the predictions are made after getting some inside information, which to me makes it seem like less of a prediction but whatever. I’m weird to even think about this sort of stuff.

I'm not concerned about this class -- with Diggins, Woodley, and G. Thompson as sophomores and K. Thompson, Gapare, and Luis as freshman, we already have a lot of high level young guys, at least on paper. The wildcard for me is whether Leveque returns. If not, we'll need some quality size.

Comeh Emuobar chose UCF. The writing was on the wall there.

Think he would’ve been a nice pickup, but we’re okay on wings moving forward. He certainly would’ve been a nice addition, though.

I am really pleased with the upgrade in talent overall, but I think we can see where the lure of playing in a Power 5 conference is very much a thing. We’ve now been firmly in the running for kids who ended up at Pitt, K State, V Tech, Northwestern and UCF. Certainly not powerhouses in their conferences.

But I think our staff has a good idea on what it wants to do with mixing transfers and freshmen. And I think our talent level is much higher than it has been in awhile.

Anywho, I am guessing Mayhugh is the next domino to fall. Getting a local kid with some size who can shoot a little bit and has a little time to develop isn’t a bad thing.

^ I'm with you on this. It would have been a good get, but we have 2 freshmen wings/guards this year and 3 more committed next year. Kante is in his last year, so it would be nice to fill at least one spot with a big.
