Toledo Game
Re: Toledo Game
Guess no one saw any positives. My wife said they looked like a high school team,, not a 1-A. Looks to me like this could be a 0-12 year. What has happened to this team to have fallen so far? We use to be competitive.
Re: Toledo Game
65 total yards passing in 2 games, not in a single drive. Obviously it’s impossible to win if you can’t complete a pass . The fundamentals aren’t there can’t believe I donated 2k last year when I heard DB was hired. If you haven’t decided on a QB you don’t have a QB.

Re: Toledo Game
No positives at all after two games. Really bad recruiting and just a negative vibe on the program as a whole. Defense can't get off their blocks and slow, O line is fat and slow and can't get to their second level blocks, that's why they run every play up the middle.
Re: Toledo Game
Is it possible to win if your offense can’t complete a forward pass? Sounds nuts but if your QB is a game manager type can you just run the ball?
Re: Toledo Game
I have faith in Don to get this program heading in the right direction and executing the fundamentals of good football: tackling, blocking, accurate passing, avoiding stupid penalties. There have been some glimpses of that but certainly not nearly enough. Hopefully we see an improved team for the home opener. Also hoping that Billy Wooden can get healthy and back in that lineup. Better days are hopefully around the corner.
Re: Toledo Game
The worst 5 FBS teams would get beaten by many high school teams. Specifically UMass UConn NMSU

We had 133 yards in penalties impossible to win that wayJack wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:02 am I have faith in Don to get this program heading in the right direction and executing the fundamentals of good football: tackling, blocking, accurate passing, avoiding stupid penalties. I was expecting better performance this season based on the Army game last year. We need that level of energy and we aren’t seeing it even with all the P5 transfers.

Re: Toledo Game
If Caperoti wants to be running back then he should switch to a half back instead of a QB. I can't imagine that they are going to use him as the starting QB the rest of this year and probably next year. I also agree we need to find a punter that can kick over 40 yards. I can't imagine more than 7,000 showing up for the game on Sat.
Re: Toledo Game
Depressing comparison: In last year's first two games we lost by a combined score of 35-96 (P5 Pitt and BC). This year against an at best middle of the pack Tulane and a good MAC team in Toledo, our cumulative score is 20-97. Hard to see a shred of improvement on either side of the ball. This when probably our biggest loss either through graduation or transfer was our punter.
Re: Toledo Game
We don't seem to even want to try to throw the ball. We have a pretty good group of RBs so why the need for a run first qb? Brady has a good arm and is fairly mobile, let him throw it, even if they're short throws to the TEs. Are we that limited at WR?
Down 45-7, we still ran, ran, ran. The game was over, let Brady air it out and see what we could do.
Still behind this team, but yesterday was a tough watch

The sales pitch at the time was "there's no future in 1AA football and it's a money loser."JoleonLescottsHair wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 1:08 pmWe made the historically dumb decision to move up to 1-A/FBS.

Re: Toledo Game
I bet you that the HS teams on ESPN from Maryland and Texas and Florida would beat UMass Uconn or NMSU. Something I noticed is that the absolute bottom of the barrel FBS teams are worse than almost all of the FCS teams. Unless we get Derrick Henry or Jonathan Taylor in our backfield we're going 0-12. I don't like the fact we don't have a QB who throw a pass. I'd even take a FCS QB.
