^ We have a bingo! Things were looking good after the run to the NIT finals game. Then he was going to Providence, no he's staying, no he's gone.

UMass has floundered since...Chaz's years here notwithstanding.

Him, or the program in general. We can't have this uncertainty hanging around for one more year. We're one of just a handful of schools that have zero commits for next season. We need clarity, either way.

My specific post was related to him. The program is a different discussion to be had.

In case anyone is interested, there IS a game on Thursday. SLU just beat Fordham 63-45 and outrebounded them 48-26. Fordham was without it's leading scorer, Daye (16.8) who left the team. SLU was missing Linssen (10.1) and Thatch (6.5). Thatch, in particular, was a thorn in our side last year.

If they are both still out our chances go from NONE to SLIM.

I'm still interested and will be there. It's ugly out there, no doubt, but I support the program no matter the record.

I guess this proves I still care since I took the time to do some checking. Linssen and Thatch missed Saturday's game due to Covid protocols. This was announced on Saturday so I'm not sure if they can play on Thursday or if they can practice this week.

Heck yeah 69. We wait all offseason for some hoops, and I'm not cashing out now with 13 games left on the schedule. This hasn't been the season any of us wanted so far, but there were some exciting moments early on like Penn St, Harvard, and that amazing buzzer beater vs Rutgers. I'm 100% in for the remainder of the season, and then we should be in for an eventful offseason.

This brings up a very difficult question for us loyal fans (of the team). Do you want the team to lose 5 or 6 more games in a row hoping it would force Bamford to make a change? Or, do you want the team to do well and see what shakes out?

I'm with Capezona on this one. I want to see wins, and the AD should evaluate the coach and direction of the program on McCall's entire 5-year tenure, not a sampling of the last dozen or so games.

As far as tonight's game is concerned, here's the Gazette preview: https://www.gazettenet.com/Two-games-ag ... l-44655210

Seems like McCall may see the writing on the wall. He's talking specifically about the players, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking about his own coaching career as well, i.e. don't worry about the offseason, coach and play for today:
“Our basketball playing careers are not that long, and our careers at UMass are even shorter. Let's do everything we can to make sure that we're making the most out of each and every day, that we're playing the game unselfishly and playing it with great effort, we're enjoying the opportunity that we have to be at UMass and the opportunities to go out there and compete,” McCall said. “I think that our guys have had great attitudes.”

McCall always seems to have the right quote. He has enthusiasm, talks about basketball IQ and culture. too bad it has not translated to the court. I wish it had worked out better for him. wish him well lol

maybe this is part of the problem. In game adjustments. He essentially stating he will fix what is not working in game tonight for the next game. why not be ready to adjust during the game? Rebounding will be essential for any chance for either game. I will be honed in on his ability to adjust on both ends of the court

per the Gazette article
" Thursday’s game is the first in a home-and-home series against the Billikens. The Minutemen will travel to Saint Louis for a 1:30 p.m. tip off Sunday. That streamlines McCall’s preparation for the “next” opponent because it’s the same as the previous one.
“I can just focus on where did we have success? And where did we struggle? And just take that on the road with us to Saint Louis, which is one of the best environments in the Atlantic 10,” he said. “Everything’s focused on (Thursday) night and then you make those adjustments going into Sunday.”
