2021-2022 Season
Re: 2021-2022 Season
Talk about a successful program! I have to keep reminding myself how long it took Mark Schmidt to get there: one winning record in conference during his first seven years at SBU.

Smarter guys would build an app to enable delivery of your concession order to your seat. No concessions is simply about avoiding lines where people congregate.MikeUMA wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 8:29 am The Ivy doesn't fuck around. The smart guys are going to be the last to relax their posture about COVID safety.
Coincidentally, it helps that they don't need to generate revenue like most others in college athletics.

^ Delivery to your seat would be a big value add, but that takes process development and a lot more staff to execute it, at a time when filling jobs is really challenging. And those would be part-time jobs. Not worth it this season. It's just easier to stay with a strict mask policy, and protect health at the same time which is what they want first and foremost.
On another note, Yale put single-game tickets on sale late Friday:

Re: 2021-2022 Season
I have been to this building for a game 14 or 15 years ago.
There was only 1 concession stand and, if my memory serves me, they only had soft drinks and popcorn. This places makes the cage look like TD Bank. A real ‘relic.’Students with lap tops etc.
If you want to go back in history you should go there. In the lobby it had plaques for rope climbing. It had the captains name and it said 98. I didn’t think they had rope climbing in 1998 only to look closer and it said 1898.

I'm speechless. In case you can't read this, Ken Pom has us at 22-9 and 12-6 in conference.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
heart attack city if KenPom's predictions turn out to be perfect (no way, of course). he has an easy win to start vs UMBC, followed by a 1-point win over Yale, then a 2-point loss to Penn State, then a 1-point win over Weber State. He has us losing to Rutgers by 1, beating NorthEastern by 1, losing to North Texas by 1, beating St. Louis by 1, beating URI by 2, and beating VCU by 1. Sounds like some artifact of no results to go on. Unless he's forced to assume coaching brilliance leads to UMass winning most close games69MG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 5:23 pm I'm speechless. OTOH, he has 9 double-digit wins for UMass, with only 1 double-digit loss (@ St. Bona). what a season that would be
Re: 2021-2022 Season
This time of year, his ratings are based on last year. That would be a year with Tre Mitchell. This year's team is a whole different story.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
Not-so-secret scrimmage with Holy Cross on Saturday, in Amherst.
Cross was picked 9th out of the 10 in the Patriot
https://patriotleague.org/news/2021/10/ ... 13-21.aspx
Gerrale Gates (6'6" 230 F Sr) is arguably their best player. He was named to the Patriot Preseason All-League Team, and he made their Third Team last season, when he tallied 16.4 ppg (led the team) and 7.6 rpg. He'll be a good test for our frontcourt defense.
RJ Johnson (6'1" 175 G So) was Patriot All-Rookie last season. 8.5 ppg.
Key players lost
Austin Butler, 16.1 ppg, 8.8 rpg (led team)
Matt Faw, 11.4, 5.4
