If 4 young players follow Tre out the door, , we will be watching a D2/JUCO level team next year. Or at least some of us will.Upstate10 wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 1:16 pmI’d say it was a good run but I’d be lyingJuice Stand wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 1:08 pm https://twitter.com/nathanpstrauss/stat ... 0654179332
Nathan Strauss, a student and announcer with WMUA, says "Rumors around the program suggest that there could be up to 4 player departures...not counting Carl and Mark. Specifically freshman transfers"
KAEO: Tre Mitchell

All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
Well, I hope we don't lose DeGray. If we lose a point guard, I'd take the guy from NU.
Refuse To Lose!!!

Tony is calling the shots here, just like he has called the shots for all of Tre’s decisions for the last 4 years. Most of the highly sought transfers have someone else making decisions for them but in this case it is for both of them.
I don’t feel McCall is the coach for this program but I do feel bad for him today...he took a chance on Tony and Tre when he needed to do something but they decided to move on together for a better offer. I mean he did get himself in this predicament so he is to blame but he got used and really has his back against the wall now. Maybe he bails out and gets the Jacksonville job? I think you still have to part with Tony and Tre otherwise you are just making a deal with the devil. The announcement wouldn’t have come yet if the deal wasn’t already done and since BC(who I believe Grant and TB had a relationship before) or Penn St(I believe Purdue recruited Tre out of WA) both just announced their new hires, I would guess one of them would be the destination for them.

This is so backwards. If McCall's entire value as a HC is tied to Tony and his recruits, then that's 100% on McCall and demonstrates that there's absolutely no reason for him to be the head coach of this program. Just take the path that gives this team the best chance of being successful next year. If that's TB & Tre with TB as the head coach, so be it. TB has been successful wherever he's gone, why not throw him a bone and see if he can do it at the D1 level if it means Tre stays. It's not a "deal with the devil" - TB has added a ton of value to this program and has positioned himself to be the best candidate for the HC job. I could give a shit that he's using his leverage to get to that point.

Yeah, just give TB a shot at this point if it mean Tre and the freshmen stay. If we go into next season with McCall and a bunch of low-major players the level of apathy from the fanbase is going to be laughable.
What a joke.

I think Offseason just confirmed what most of us thought.. TB flipped Tre again for a better job.. remember when I posted the tweet after his fire about putting things into perspective and "taking care of mine"??? If it is BC or Penn state I could see a Degray or TJ or maybe even Noah going with them. Not sure if he can transfer again.. maybe since it's a freebie??
The timing does make sense.. one of his guys just got a new job and needs to build a staff. He was just waiting for the hire to be confirmed before they pulled the trigger to the portal. Honestly if I'm Banford and I know what the play is.. I'd fire Tony

I think you're right. Pretty sure it's Penn St. b/c Buggs tweeted something to Tre about the Big 10. Man, what a kick to the nads this whole thing has become.TheOFFSeason wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 1:37 pm Tony is calling the shots here, just like he has called the shots for all of Tre’s decisions for the last 4 years. ^ I saw that and admit I was surprised. I thought TJ already had one foot out the door after his lack of playing time.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
If we lose JG/Cairo/Degray we are in trouble. We could compete without Tre but not without two or all of those guys.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
Yup (sarcasm), he did a terrible job with the men's soccer coach, hockey, women's basketball coach etc. Kelsey poisoned the well!TheInsider wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:39 am Terrible job by Bamford seems to be a recurring theme over the years
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

I have to say I was always a little uncomfortable with putting all of our eggs in the Woodstock basket. I'm not sure it's really healthy to rely on one recruiting source.

Bamford didn't hire the men's soccer coach (mediocre record at best); Carvel's wife is from Amherst (great place to raise a family) and is a UMass grad.Steve81 wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 2:10 pmYup (sarcasm), he did a terrible job with the men's soccer coach, hockey, women's basketball coach etc. Kelsey poisoned the well!TheInsider wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:39 am Terrible job by Bamford seems to be a recurring theme over the years

That's good to see. Noah Fernandes was so good this year, I think UMass' second best player behind Tre. Talented, competitive, and I think he has the potential to be a real leader here. The starting PG always has clout in the locker room. Hopefully guys want to play with Noah and stick around to see this through. I think TJ, another year here, no longer Carl Pierre's backup, will step up and mature into a real star player. He will get his minutes, Noah will find him for open shots, and he will bury them.jrdupe wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 1:58 pm for what it's worth - Fernandes Dad just Tweeted - "I support Coach McCall" - TJ week immediately liked the Tweet.
