Game 2, 2019-20: at Fairfield (Bridgeport, 11/9)
Who's considering going to the Fairfield game in Bridgeport on 11/9? I'm toying the idea with getting a suite and have a UMassHoops.com gathering. Prices are reasonable as suites go.
But first I'm gauging interest of who may be going at all.

Unfortunately same day as football at West Point.

Bump. Time to talk Stags.
Fairfield stumbled out of the gate last night, dropping their season opener at home to Bucknell, 68-64. Buck had a 15 point lead with 4:26 to play, and the Stags almost rallied out of it, cutting it to 2, but couldn't get that final push.

Stags were picked to finish last in the 11-team MAAC this season, but Junior Guard Jesus Cruz was picked 3rd Team.

I think, and obviously hope, we win this one.

Fairfield was 9-22 last year and as Mike said, they aren't supposed to be very good. They did put up a good fight at home against Bucknell, picked for 2nd in the Patriot League.
They landed Chris Maidoh, a 6'10 center who we recruited. I checked the box score and he started, played 17 minutes with 1 point and 3 boards.
Of their 64 points, 53 came from their 3 guards; Cruz (6'5) 24, Taliaferro (6'5) 17 and Benning (6'4) 12. They only shot 12 3 pointers (made 2). Cruz took 18 shots but only 3 3's.

Interested to see how they react after a win and praise. Do they come out sluggish because they are feeling good about themselves or do they come out hard and keep improving. I'm thinking they come out hard. Luckily its on ESPN 3

I don't see them getting complacent. Still have a lot to prove, and they all came from winning programs, so I'd be surprised if they came out flat. If anything, I think each win will make them play harder

An X-Factor: our assistant coach Tyson Wheeler was on the Fairfield staff last year, so that's the best scouting report you can get on the Stags veterans.
McCall alluded to it in last night's presser: it's been a while since we won a road game, 334 days to be exact. No better time than now to try and break that streak. There aren't many gimmes on the road schedule.

Important we get off to a fast start and knock down these "should win" games. I seriously doubt we will take anyone for granted this season so not worried about complacency. Schedule gets much tougher soon. Loved the way we played in game one, I think we are going to run these guys off the floor, but that's just me.

Where are you getting ESPN3? I don't see that in the umassathletics.com schedule.TheInsider wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 11:48 am Interested to see how they react after a win and praise. You think Umass would put it up but that might be too much to ask.
