Re: McGuirk Upgrade
How about Smith and Wesson? They are headquartered in Springfield. A large, local company with significant brand recognition. I believe that they quite profitable at the moment....
It's also consistent with being a Minuteman.

Re: McGuirk Upgrade
https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/20 ... 12723a.pdfIn September 2003, MCCA entered into an agreement with the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for naming rights of the new Springfield Civic Center. In consideration for a payment of $5 million, the Springfield Civic Center was designated as the MassMutual Center.
Okay, best case scenario MassMutual scales proportionally with inflation and stadium capacity (let's say it's 30k vs 8k). That's like $25M over 15 years.
Then again, UConn's Stadium was named for P&W founder Frederick Rentschler for 75 acres and a $2M donation, for a total estimate of probably less than $5M over 15 years?
Houston's stadium's naming rights were $22.5M over 15 years.
UCF was $15M over 15 years in 2006, so $18.5M today?

FYI, the Football Performance Center has a name. But I wouldn’t mind seeing Sam Adams Stadium.....can join Miller and Coors.MajBugman wrote: Tue Jul 17, 2018 9:42 am I personally would have no issues seeing a game at Big Y field at Yankee Candle Stadium overlooking the Price Chopper Football Performance Center.

Yankee Candle Stadium. Probably have LED candle bulbs in the light towers. Not a great look

Re: McGuirk Upgrade
If it's a new stadium from scratch, there's no need for hyphenation. Name the field itself after Warren McGuirk if you'd like, but it's a new building from scratch (or essentially from scratch), it can have a new name.Steve81 wrote: Sun Jul 15, 2018 12:01 pm
hmm, guess you'd hyphenate it unless the figure was obscene, as the T-Mobile - McGuirk Stadium. For an obscene amount T-Modile Stadium and move Warren McGuirk on to the field as Jack Leaman Court. No one is ever suggesting removing William Mullins from the building and of course is not the focus here as this is Football Forum.

Not really sure if this belongs here, but oh well.

For those who don't get the Journal here's the "Attendance Gap Leaders":
UMass came in near the 40th percentile with scanned attendance ~8 percentage points below the average of 71%. So I suppose at least Bamford and Co. are running a relatively "ethical" ship. We did however come in as the 6th worst in FBS scanned attendance and 2nd worst announced attendance.

^ The "worst announced attendance" chart gives a good indication of the correctness of the move away from the MAC. It is a good competitive league for those wanting to stay mid-major in football, but not where most wanted UMass football (and other sports) to be. I am surprised to see Georgia Southern in with that group. I thought there would be more interest in the program than the attendance is indicating.

Re: McGuirk Upgrade
Last year's home slate was not going to attract huge crowds. Add in the 0-6 start and you get what we got. I think BYU will be near 20k. I'd love it to be more, but I think Umass will bring about 14k as the only Gillettte game and BYU around 6k. Band day could get us to 25k. One win of the next three brings us back home at .500. My hope is we win two, pipe dream to win all three. With a .500 or better record hopefully we sell out or come close for Charlotte. I hope scanned attendance is above 15k per game. I know announced will be. USF should sell out.harbo wrote: Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:43 pm ^ The "worst announced attendance" chart gives a good indication of the correctness of the move away from the MAC.
