Makar turns down Olympics

Was offered a spot on Team Canada's roster but declined. Good for us, but very surprising.

Wonder if it has to do with development. He might not feel ready to play against that level of competition... sort of the same reason why he chose to stay at UMass and not go to the NHL immediately.

Not to mention he was likely in as the 7th defenseman and would get the majority of his limited ice time on the power play. People are going nuts on Twitter about it - but I don't really see the problem. It would be a huge hindrance to him developmentally, and more importantly (for us), academically for him to go to South Korea for a month.
