Re: Pitino extortion case
Seems like players and/or families would be implicated as well. They illegally accepted bribes. If a couple of them were arrested it might put a scare into other recruits to toe the line. Although, could you imagine what it's like for a kid still in high school to have $100K dangling in his face?

Re: Pitino extortion case
Pitino is starting to give Cosby competition on the most recent most famous UMass alumni.
Re: Pitino extortion case
I think potential jail time outweighs money - if the FBI drops the hammer on this one that money grab will stop pretty damn fast.capezona wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2017 10:48 am Seems like players and/or families would be implicated as well. The feds' M.O. is to squeeze the underlings until they rat out the big guys. I wouldn't feel very comfortable if I were the head coach or even the AD at some of these universities.
Re: Pitino extortion case
^ I agree but I'll also be shocked if head coaches making millions were stupid enough to take $100k bribes. My gut says their involvement is more likely to be turning a blind eye - like Coach K did at Duke with Corey Maggette and Myron Piggie.

Re: Pitino extortion case
At what point, and after how many scandals does the NCAA consider giving Pitino a lifetime ban from coaching? Or serve Louisville with the "death penalty"? That program, including his behavior and "how was I supposed to know?" attitude has been completely out of control for years.
Re: Pitino extortion case
At the break even point in their bottom line. The NCAA cares about ONE thing.Juice Stand wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2017 11:43 am At what point, and after how many scandals does the NCAA consider giving Pitino a lifetime ban from coaching?

Maybe I'm an old guy, but what makes the PTF Commenter funny? I know he has long hair and wears sunglasses indoors, but what else?CarriageEstates22 wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2017 11:16 am Breaking News!

Retarded artistically. Idiotic in other respects.
Re: Pitino extortion case
^ Cleverness, quick wit... I don't think people find his long hair or sunglasses indoors funny (at least I don't and I'm a big PFT Commenter guy). This particular joke the fruit was hanging so low it was practically on the ground. His taeks are usually pretty good though.

It's definitely the quick wit. Stuff he comes up with off the cuff is better than stuff that would take me an hour to come up with. Agree with the low hanging fruit though. But sometimes that's his thing. He's never quick to back off a beaten horse if it's a horse he's helped beat.MJatUM wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2017 12:58 pm ^ Cleverness, quick wit... Re: Pitino extortion case
It’s been quiet so far but I wonder what Richard Pitino’s thoughts are on all of this. He must have known something illegal was going on over the years.
