Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
Oregon needed an assistant coach like Matty reminding them to box out on the FTs....
Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
I'm not even an Oregon fan and I nearly threw something at the TV after that second offensive rebound by UNC to seal the game. Couldn't believe it was the same kid that didn't box out after getting beat the previous time. They even showed the Oregon coaches yelling "box out" with the little chicken wing motion, too. Too bad they didn't have one more TO left to settle them down.
This is the most enjoyable losing season ever!
Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
It's very difficult for most young players to understand and practice that when rebounding you have to concentrate first on the opponent and second on the ball

My final 4 had UNC, Gonzaga and Oregon in it, and I had a Gonzaga-UNC final. My winner? Gonzaga. $$

^Nice job scoop. Better than most! I loved Oregon all year then flaked on them when Boucher went out.

Just keeping an eye for on the movement n the offense with Gonzaga and it's beautiful. Move , set screen, move, cross underneath, move, post.. move. every guy in a flow no one standing around at all the last set.

Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
What a half-assed non-effort by Gonzaga's Melson to recover that loose ball!
And hero ball by Williams-Goss on their last two possessions KILLED them. Kind of reminded me of that WV guy who got hot in the second half and then felt every shot was his the rest of the way ... including the one they never got off!
Tough way to unravel in the final 90 seconds ...

Few should have pulled him when his ankle turned. Shame to play so beautifully and then revert to one on one hero ball last couple possessions. Not their game.
Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
2nd half was brutal to watch. The refs called EVERYTHING. It was on both teams but, wow, way to kill any flow. Both in the bonus with something like 15 minutes to go.

Re: 2017 NCAA Tournament
Yep. That was brutal to watch. My heart wanted the Zags to pull through but my head said UNC all the way. The refs were certainly calling a lot of cheap ones last night and both teams suffered; the game was definitely not a classic based on the stoppage in play. There was another villain though, and it is the NCAA itself. We have seen countless examples of games played in these cavernous multi-purpose arenas. It can work for football but it just doesn't work for BBall. From the jump, these well trained athletes were bricking everything. It has to do with sight lines and depth perception and you just don't get it without a lot of practice/familiarization. Even the free throws were WAY off. Methinks the NCAA should only play in basketball arenas for these huge events. To heck with the ticket revenue, it is the TV dollars that pay the freight and the product would be much more enjoyable.

^^
I so hate the NCAA. The camera shots at floor level following the ball handler up the court made it clear how ridiculous playing in a football stadium was.
The student sections made me laugh too. Behind the endlines floor level looking up at the raised court, sweet.
