The beauty of his situation is he can go into next season with the current roster with good potential to seriously outperform his predecessor without even making any changes. But on top of that, he can also hit the recruiting trail hard for the class of 2018 (5 projected openings) and ensure that he doesn't miss a beat in his second year, while building a solid foundation for years to come. I think even if he doesn't see huge value in each player, he might see a lot of value in keeping it all intact and building the program up through traditional (high school) recruiting. He's got a lot to offer the class of 2018 and relatively little pressure in his first year.
This is the most enjoyable losing season ever!

How long do we think it will be before (if) we hear about transfers? My guess is a week. Most likely to transfer is Berger. It's been mentioned that he would like to go back to the west coast. He'll graduate and be a 5th year senior. I can't really figure the odds on anyone else for a variety of reasons.

Let me restate my position on this. I hope EVERYBODY stays. I think there's a ton of talent and I want to see what Matt can do with the same roster that DK had.

^ FWIW, I heard about discontent in the locker room before DK was fired. I heard about it again after Kelsey was announced (before he backed out). And I heard about it again today (from multiple sources). Never specific players or # of players, but I feel pretty confident in saying that we should brace for some transfers.

Guys will leave. That's how these things go. It is what it is.

^ So what you're saying is it didn't matter who the coach was, some of the players weren't going to be happy no matter what. Let's see how things play out.

Correct. From some of what I was told, it sounds like some of the players were unhappy with how things were under DK and others may be unhappy with DK's firing. Can't make everyone happy.

It is tough when as a coach you play favorites, and you are not winning. I've heard the same about the post DK pre Kelsey time period. Let's hope McCall is able to rerecruit some of the guys, but I also agree that guys that want to leave should.

^ I heard the same thing. Some players (don't know how many) were thought to be transferring if DK was retained. When he was fired we immediately heard from a few others that they weren't happy. I'm hoping that MM can win this group over. I guess we'll just have to chill and see how it plays out. Unfortunately, we, as a group, are not good at chilling.

Berger is almost certainly going to leave. He finished his undergrad degree in December and if he wants to still play he can pick a school closer to home and prob get a lot more playing time. The rest? Pip, Hines, and Halloway already redshirted so it's hard to see them surrendering a year of eligibility and sitting out next season. The other 4 true freshman is any ones guess.

Couple of tweets today. Probably not related at all to new coach:

Gresham -- Train yourself how to think instead of what to think.
Jarreau -- Barely trust ninjas around me the snakes be camouflage!
Bamford has erased McCutcheon

Lot of young talent on this team and you can see there's more than a couple who want to be the alpha dog. I like everyone on this team but if a few transfer out, the nucleus might grow tighter. Play for the name on the front, not the back and it will bring dividends with more wins, exposure and notoriety.

I can't even begin to guess what Deeky is tweeting. Personally I don't trust ninjas at all, never did.

Rumor has it that a good bit of the players are openly talking about transfering. I still don't think Clark and Lewis will both xfer. If one leaves the other will see oppertunity. McLean, Pipkins, Hines, Holloway all locks. If we can keep Flowers or Baldwin or both we have solid starting 5.

Pipkins
Lewis/Clark
Flowers
Baldwin
Hines

I would be happy with that if it was where we ended up. Not ecstatic but we will win some games.

I hope we can keep them all tho.

Is your rumor source the @Zoo_Mass handle on Twitter or something else?

No my friend works his financial aid job doing clerical stuff around the athletics department.

He said no one had officially chosen only their is a high level of discontent. If we keep everyone it will be a very very good sign about McCall
