I'm not sure where this keeps going off the rail but it has been reported as fact on here that Rhoades was going to be introduced as the HC last Wednesday if Wade didn't take LSU. When that became clear RB flew to Atlanta to meet PK and needed an answer so PK committed without seeing campus.

For clarification, I believe you're the only person who claimed this is what happened. If it did, it still reflects poorly on RB because he panicked and made a mistake by rushing and cutting corners.

I think Bamford has done a good job overall. Regarding this search, he also seems to have done a good job, but he's not perfect, it appears (from the outside looking in) that he may have make some mistakes. I hardly think that viewpoint qualifies me as a knee jerk cynic.

...Shrewsberry also said he will go into the meeting with an open mind, not knowing what he will do if the job is offered. But according to a league source knowledgeable of the off-kilter dynamics at play at UMass, “it sounds like the job is his if he wants it.”...

...Shrewsberry was part of a group of coaching candidates that also included Joe Dooley (Florida Gulf Coast) and Mike Rhoades, who has since taken the job at VCU. The source said a highly regarded, unidentified Division 1 assistant coach pulled his name out of consideration Saturday morning.

Shrewsberry was known to be making calls this weekend to local coaches in an attempt to get an idea of local talent, including one geographic location that has long been off the UMass radar — the Boston area....

If he's offered, and accepts, let's hope he doesn't look like as much of a novice as a head coach as he does in dealing with the media.

The guy didn't get the job the first time around, who can blame him for wanting to give himself an out in case he gets turned down again?

I understand that, but he shouldn't be giving himself "an out" by saying something that might be perceived as throwing shade at the place he wants a job. That could damage his chance at the job. As someone else said, "no comment" is probably the best policy in these situations.
