Keeping an eye on the future recruits
Re: Keeping an eye on the future recruits
FTT aways the place for the best info.
Re: Keeping an eye on the future recruits
Nicely played there by having a Boeing landing at UMass.
And I'll second Swampy's comment about the good info coming from the FTT.

Some members of the Hockey's Future boards think very highly of Cale Makar. I think most UMass fans knew Makar was good, but it's nice to know that some people think he will be a first round draft pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. I think Rocks mentioned in one of his earlier posts on FTT that Makar was still committed to UMass. Here's the link in case anyone wants to read about other top 2017 prospects: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showt ... ?t=2091497

I've assumed for a while that Makar would be a target for next year's draft.

Jayson Dobay, a 6'0", 170 pound D-man from Massachusetts, just committed today. I think he's coming in 2017-18 since he's going to play at Thayer Academy next year. Most scouts said he is a good puck-moving defensemen with excellent vision. Seems like a great pickup.

Correction on my last post: It appears Dobay will arrive in the 2018-19 season. He'll play for Thayer Academy this season, and then he'll go on to play for Cedar Rapids in the USHL during the 2017-18 season.

Rocks
I was told this weekend that former commit Willie Smith is now playing in the USHL with Muskegon after spending 3 years in the QMJHL with Moncton. Would he still be eligible for D1?

Re: Keeping an eye on the future recruits
Anyone who plays in the QMJHL, OHL, or WHL loses their NCAA eligibility because they get paid (even though it's a relatively small stipend).
