Classless is leaving your team on probation, all while taking their recruits...we owe that dbag nothing, and he could only match what Gene Bartow achieved back in 1973...taking Memphis to the title game.
D Rose is/was the reason for any problems/probation you received. Cal brought that program to heights they'll never see again. You all should be grateful for every thing he did for you. Any upset that he left for Kentucky is insane. You don't turn down Kentucky when you're at a school like Memphis....no disrespect to Memphis but you're not a Duke/Kansas/Kentucky. Just classless to not honor him.

Memphis
Calapari breathed life back into your program again, brought it back onto the national stage, made it relevant nationally again. If you have a complaint I believe it's with the admissions office and compliance staff for being lazy.

He left for Kentucky because that is the Holy Grail of college basketball coaching, nothing more, nothing less. You and I would do the same thing if we received offers from equivalent employers in our industries.

As for taking recruits to Kentucky, I hate to break the news to you but they didn't chose Memphis for the academics they chose it because of Cal. Not a knock on the school just the facts, it happens all the time when coaches leave one school for another.

UMass is honoring Cal because of what he did for the university, not just his success as their coach. UMass was a great academic school before Cal but not many outside of New England knew it. Cal woke the world up to the gem of an institution residing in the pioneer valley. He took Podunk and brought it to Park Avenue, and beat North Carolina I might add on national TV. Hell he woke up our own legislature to what a wonderful institution they had in their own state. UMass is what it is today because Cal made people here realize they had something great and they shouldn't be afraid to dream big and compete against the top tier universities in the world.

One day Memphis will realize Cal gave UMemphis it's swagger back. Don't hate....appreciate.

Cal brought Rose here, not the other way around...the HC is responsible for everything that goes on in the program under his watch...you boys can spin it all you like, the flaming bag of poo he left on our doorstep is all on him.

Moreover, Memphis has a title game in the 70s under Gene Bartow, Final Four in the 80s with Keith Lee, an Elite Eight and players like Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry in the 90s, and Cal's run in the early 2000s

If you think Cal put Memphis on the map, you just don't know your hoops history.

If yall want to 'honor' that SOB, go for it...we will do no such thing.

EDIT: wmmmfan, I'm not mad he left (hey, it happens) I'm mad about HOW he left...

^ To each his own.

You want to hang Rose's issues on Cal that's on you (meaning the Memphis fan base).

Don't you think that if the NCAA could have pinned things on him they would have?

Let it go, man. Life's too short!

Nice tweet by Coach Cal...

"Gotta show you UMass' new practice facility. One of the best I've seen. If you don't go to UK you gotta go to UMass."

Are you aware of how delusional you are about who caused the NCAA sanctions? Or are you so jaded from your history of NCAA violations (since you want to talk about history so much...) that you can only blame the coach?

Delusion is honestly believing that John Calipari didn't know what Rose was up to with his SAT. Delusion is honestly believing that Calipari didn't know what was going on with Camby. Delusion is giving Calipari a pass for leaving your school on probation. Moreover, we're not OK with taking committed players...

as I said, if y'all want to 'honor' something like that...cool...we choose not to.

I'd like to see some facts that Cal knew Rose cheated or planned to cheat on his SAT's?

Just FYI on Rose's SAT.

Rose was cleared to play by the NCAA Clearinghouse for his freshmen season. After the season was over and Rose was headed to the NBA Draft, Educational Testing Services sent a letter to Rose saying there were questions about his SAT score. In the letter ETS told Rose he had 30 days to be back in touch or they would invalidate his score. Rose, who had already entered the NBA draft and had no intention of going back to Memphis, plus had signed with Adidas took no action. ETS did, after the 30 days, invalidate his score. The NCAA then took the action to go back and reverse the Clearinghouse decision from almost a year prior due to the fact that Rose now had no valid SAT. That is the beginning and end of the story. Love how no one actually researches for the actual facts and it is often reported he "cheated" and therefore Memphis forfeited their season.

You choose not to because you are stupid and delusional. You choose not to honor him because you can't get any facts right about what happened at Memphis, or UMASS apparently. You choose not to honor him because you've had previous infractions by your coaching staff and you are jaded. You choose not to honor him because you choose to forget that Cal brought Memphis to more success than they have ever seen, not just the FF and NC games, but more wins in a 4 year period than any team up to that time and countless NBA players, among multiple conference championships (and on and on and on).

And because you choose to be stupid and delusional, you feel like it's worth your time trolling us here. You've got more issues than just this Calipari stuff, that's for sure.
