Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

I just hope candidate #4 is a upgrade from candidates 1-3.
Re: Athletic Director: McCutcheon out, who's in
Shocking that Blaudouche would not even mention the controversy surrounding Fiore.....but not really.

So did anyone here listen to Bob speak at the lunch today?
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Oh my God. If this list is accurate I am going to go back to being a Miami fan.
To bring UMass athletics to the next level we are looking to candidates with experience at Stony Brook, UNC-Greensboro and SUNY Buff? Are you kidding me?
What this tells me is Bamford is the guy and the rest are throw away candidates.

This really is kind of sad, isn't it?

Bamford has erased McCutcheon

So the next time someone asks why the residents of the state, alumni, and students don't support UMass athletics.....

I suppose it's not a murderer's row of candidates, but people do need to realize that this isn't an SEC or B1G job opening here. It's not a joke, but it's not top-of-the-line either.
Greene from Buffalo, he has experience at Ole Miss as well. Bamford and Fiore both have character concerns it seems, perhaps unsubstantiated in some cases but you'd prefer none at all. Buffalo's sports programs have seen improvement recently, as have their facilities. And his Ole MIss experience was primarily in fundraising, which as we know for the SEC ain't no joke. Before that, he worked at Notre Dame, where he graduated from. So his experience on the whole shouldn't be glossed over. People in here are talking like these people only have experience at their current positions.
Of the listed candidates, I like his qualifications the best. Of course there's apparently a mystery candidate so we won't know for sure until it's settled.

Re: Athletic Director: McCutcheon out, who's in
I'll raise you on that. This job, for the up and coming hot shots from big time programs, sucks. It isn't attractive in the least, outside of the pay raise. We have flailing programs almost across the board, poor support from from our state, improving but still shitty support from alumni, and no security from conference affiliation. In the current and changing world of college athletics, we are clearly on the outside looking in at the big time, and that almost certainly won't change. If I'm a guy working at Clemson and ready to take on a head job, why on god's green earth would I consider coming to UMass, instead of waiting another year or so for a seat at the big table?
I have no idea whether these candidates are the finalists or if there are others down the line, but the list is, and will be, indicative of the quality of the opportunity.

Hopefully it is a smoke screen for real good candidate. If these are the best guys of all that applied then we are in serious trouble.
