Former Virginia Tech commit Donte Clark - 2013 SG from Hargrave Military (VA) - has committed to UMass, per @justinbyerly.

(For Mike - Justin is Director of Recruiting for http://BasketballElite.com , writer and analyst for http://CarolinaPreps.com . Asheville, NC)

(For Len - So much for your "no more 'ships" post. :) Unless he will sit a year to qualify on his own dime.)
And so he did.

Clark is listed at 6'-4" on the Umass athletics website, he looks longer than that to me. This kid could be really special. He needs to start at the 3 the next game.

^ DK wants a "wave" coming off the bench. If you sub Donte for Seth starting, the wave includes Seth and TBerg. Not so good. That could be the reason the Seth starts.

By the end of the season Donte will be the best player on the team and by the end of his career his length and athleticism will make him a legit NBA prospect

This kid has so much raw talent. He seems to be calm at the FT line. He has range combined with athleticism and seems to keep his head.

I've heard DK talk about how hard it is to make some personnel decisions and I think he's referring to Clark and how well he's played.

Clark needs to be in there at crunch time, even at the expense of Trey or DG. 'Nuff said.

If Dante continues to develop he could become another Wesley Saunders. His game looks similar to me and all he needs is some refinement and experience to be a game changer like Saunders.

I don't thin that's a must. Don't get me wrong, the kid is playing extremely well, but I thought we would have been better suited having Jabarie out there today in the final minutes. DG, Trey and Jabarie know hot to score and make plays in those situations better at this point. There will definitely be games where Clark needs to be out there, I just don't think it's a must he needs to be out there in the final minutes. Really thought Jabarie could have helped today in the final 3 minutes.

Having another option at crunch time makes UMass that much harder to defend.

I started this thread when he committed. It was a "shocka" because we did not have a KAEO thread for him and most had no idea he was on our radar.

The guy we knew nothing about turns out to be the best. Love it.

His game reminds me of Reggie Lewis, just not as tall

Has it been mentioned in the other thread that Donte had 16 in the first half, but - unless I'm wrong - didn't start the second half. And no concerted effort was made to feed him the ball in the second half, was there? I didn't see it.

^ nope no effort was made to try and get him the ball in the second half.. And the same 5 started the second half that started the game so poorly.
