BC struggled against UNH....which probably means they'll be a little angry on Sunday. At least they should be.

Any early predictions for this one?

My guess is a game in the 60's somewhere. I think it will be close down the stretch but I'll take UMass with a 5 point win.

I have a feeling UMass plays a little smarter on defense this game and doesn't allow quite as many easy drives into the lane for uncontested layups. BC will have to shoot very well from outside to win this one.

The keys here for us are boxing out, ball movement, and keeping our man in front of us. If we do this I think we'll be just fine.

I think the lack of practice time in between games hurts us here. We were carried by our returning core-four last night, and our new guys have a quick turn around after their first experience in a real game. This first week whirlwind schedule will be tough.

Of course, BC is in the same boat, with a new coach and some new pieces. I think if BC shoots well we'll be in trouble.

I will be SHOCKED if the game is 'in the 60's somewhere' because it will mean UMass will not be playing their style.

One day of rest and it's Giddyup, imo.

I agree that if things go as planned UMass should score at least into the mid 70's but I just think BC will do a decent job of slowing it down and making us shoot jumpers.

I hope we can run and drive all game but I just don't see it happening in this one.

BC shot 1 for 19 from 3 against UNH. We can't expect that to happen again. They did lose the #2, 3 and 4 scorers from last year's team. They are about the same size we are, except their guards are all 6'3 or taller. They went 8 deep against UNH with all 8 playing 18 minutes or more. Our "big 4" is better than their top 4, but not sure after that.

If Cady can get Clifford in foul trouble instead of the reverse, we should be fine. They don't have a shot blocker so I see them playing a zone. We may have to hit some outside shots and we should try to run as much as possible. I doubt they have our speed.

Hanley killed us on drives last year, and based on what I saw with our defense off screens last night, that could be a problem again. But I think we'll be ready for that.

Anyone in NYC area wanna make an impromptu road trip to this one? I was planning on already being in western mass this weekend and commuting to Boston from there, but opted not to and now I'm really getting the itch to make a day trip but am sans car and don't particularly want to take a bus.
