The Non-Conference Opponents/RPI Update Thread
How about we keep tabs on what the RPI fodder is up to in one thread this year?. Now that I've got the ball rolling, I'll bet someone is enterprising enough to keep this updated with the games our non-conference foes are playing that night and the results the next morning. Right? Right??

if such is the case, then awesome!!!!!
BUT..... Holy Cross is #23, Stetson is #22, Mercer is #13, and Bethune-Cookman is #12
but lets hope those are right and we only climb up!
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

I completely understand that it's ridiculously skewed now. If anything, that's part of the fun of watching it. But as this thread is dedicated to opponents inasmuch as they affect UMass' RPI, I think it will be interesting to see how it fluctuates after each game or if some of the opponents rip off some winning streaks.

Pomeroy is "OK" but Sagarin, Greenfield http://www.teamrankings.com/ncb/, Massey http://www.mratings.com/rate/cb-m.htm and Sauceda http://www.mratings.com/rate/cb-s.htm are better. Early in the season, all of the above systems are suspect because of the lack of data. Some prime thier data, others don't. Some of them aren't even reporting ratings yet. All of these guys are far better than the RPI. The RPI is a joke at actually rating the performance of a team. Its only relevance is that the NCAA is still dumb enough to use it when seeding the tournamant. However I have heard that they are at least considering Sagarin's ratings now and possibly some of the others.UMass87 wrote:Ken Pomeroy is pretty dead0n by Mid-January. Ken Pomeroy publishes his predictions. I'd love to see an anlysis of his predictions versus the Vegas line. In my experience he's been pretty damn good. The Truth wrote:...Pomeroy is "OK" but Sagarin, Greenfield http://www.teamrankings.com/ncb/, Massey http://www.mratings.com/rate/cb-m.htm and Sauceda http://www.mratings.com/rate/cb-s.htm are better....
