Derek Kellogg Leaving???

Hoping DK is at UMass for the long haul.
Its about the name on the front of the $10.00 t-shirt, not the one ironed on the back.

Mike White and John Pelphrey will most likely be their main targets...

I can't wait to see what kind of raise DK gets after this is all said and done. I don't think he's going anywhere.

is anyone going to be that upset if he leaves? yes he got us back to the tourney but he looked like a deer in head lights last Friday and he is not a good X's and O's guys. he is a very good recruiter but if I'm ranking A-10 coaches, he isn't even in the top 5. Umass will be above average while he is here...they will be competitive in the A-10 but they will never make a run in the NCAA's. Many people here will be upset if he leaves, but in my opinion they will never be anything more than they were this year as long as he's the head coach. If you guys are happy peaking on December 15th, then let's keep him. For me, that's not good enough...and it shouldn't be for everyone else here either.

I'm 100% for keeping DK, but the Manhattan guy is available as a fallback plan. Just saying.

Wow, three 20 win season and a return to the dance. This post right here is the definition of moronic.

so your happy winning 20 games but losing by 20 in back to back post season appearances? I'm sorry, but just making the dance isn't good enough. it kills me to watch Dayton in the sweet 16 with a really good chance right now to go to the elite 8 when we were a much better team than they were. We did not come to play against GW in the A-10 tourney and we certainly weren't ready to play Tennessee...if you want to blame the players, that's fine, but IMO, that's on the head coach

I'll say it again. There is NO. WAY. DK is leaving by choice.

Even if he gets offered twice his current salary, I don't see it happening.

It kills you? How about you educate yourself on Dayton. A team that travels charter planes to every game while our team sits in airports waiting for connecting flights. A team that sells out almost every game (13,000) they play at home while we are a Top 25 program and can't even fill half of our arena. Dayton fans should have expected more and this year it's finally coming to fruition for them. But they have not been a model of success either.

Your stance is one of a typical uneducated fan. Take the Cal years out and what is there for UMASS? Some good runs with Jack and what? I prefer to think we finally have a coach who is bringing a winning mentality and building a foundation for consistency in the future. This is what needs to happen here for us to be successful year in and year out. Your view is one that is simplistic and uneducated.

I love all the speculation. Please. DK is going nowhere.

Just like everyone went crazy announcing Shaka going to Marquette until he confirmed it was not happening.

I assume next we will hear how Cady is going to declare for the draft and Maxie is retaining an agent for the NBA possibility.

did you think Dayton was better than Umass this year? if the answer is NO, than it should kill you too to watch a team that I feel was not as good as Umass beat teams that are better than them, while we get blown out and embarrassed on national TV. did anyone hear what John Thompson said about them last Friday? He called them undisciplined, unprepared, lazy, and not a very good team...he said there is no excuse to be this unprepared for an NCAA tournament game and for that he blames the head coach! Pretty sure he knows a thing or two about coaching.

It amazes me that anyone here that even dares say something negative about s player or in this case, the coach, gets attacked. The truth is, DK is a good recruiter but he's not a good coach. You can say I'm "an uneducated fan" if you want, I could care less...you have no idea what kind of fan I am, it's just my opinion...and god forbid I don't think DK is great.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

As for john Thompson.......one could say the same thing about his son and Georgetown. It was DK's first trip, I'll get concerned if he doesn't learn from it but Under Thompson's kid G'town has crashed and burned in the tourney to lower seeds in three successive years if my memory is correct so I guess they will be firing him soon.
